Hey, so I really love thrash metal, and I'm always looking for new thrash metal music to listen to so I can add it to my playlist. I love the music, it what helps me draw, and write stories. So, I was wondering, if any of you metal fans who love thrash metal would give some recommendation of some awesome thrash bands to listen to? I'll list the bands I already listen to. :)

Metallica
Megadeth
Pantera
Kreator
Testament
Annihilator
Anthrax
Destruction
Iced earth

Nice list so far. Still missing:

Flotsam And Jetsam - Around 1986-88 possibly the best Bay Area Thrash metal band around. Better than Testament. Better than Exodus. Better than Megadeth. Even better than Metallica. Only two albums (Doomsday For The Deciever and No Place For Disgrace) are essential though. Stay clear of the rest.
Exodus - Live F&J only the first two albums (Bonded By Blood and Pleasures Of The Flesh) are essential.
Death Angel - The debut (The Ultra-Violence) is fantastic, the second album (Frolic Through The Park) still good and Act III again fantastic, but no longer thrash metal.
Sepultura had a strong of deathy thrash album in the late 80s/early 90s (Schizophrenia, Beneath The Remains, Arise). Everything before that is Death Metal, and after that Groove Metal.
Celtic Frost - Highly influential Thrash/proto-Death/Black Metal band. Stay clear of Cold Lake though.
D.R.I. - Crossover-band. Third, fourth and fifth albums (Crossover, Four Of A Kind, Thrashzone) are more thrash metal than hardcore punk, earlier work is fantastic chaotic hardcore punk.
Suicidal Tendencies - Again, crossover. How Will I Laugh Tomorrow is their most thrashy album, and one of my fav albums of all times.
Also worth mentioning: Sodom, Dark Angel, Sabbat (UK).
If you like Pantera, you'll love Machine Head.

For more information I recommend the Encyclopaedia Metallum, otherwise known as The Metal Archives.

Thank you very much! I was started to think no one would reply to this thread, I've made similar threads before, but I never got any replies to them. heh.

I'm also really glad you listed bands I haven't heard of yet. I mean, I've heard of, exodus, sepultura, and sodom, but the others are new for me. So you help me out a lot, especially with listing the albums along with them.

And thanks for the encyclopedia recommendations, too. I was using the spirit of rock site, but they're so many bands, and I didn't really like just seeing the list, then looking the bands up in spotify, hoping to find a needle in a haystack, lol.

Mwah, not in this case. All of the bands mentioned (with the POSSIBLE exception of Pantera and Iced Earth, and both are pretty thrashy) are legitimate thrash metal bands.

Eh, really?^^;I was just trying to find at lest decent ones to listen to. heh, I found a list of bands in the genre, but it's really long, and it's random. So I was trying to see what others might recommend in the meantime.

I really hate the whole "true" thing though. I feel it's very restrictive, and doesn't allow one to explore other genres the might otherwise like. That's my take on it, anyway. :)

Oh there will be some legitimate users that will introduce you to some good stuff, but there's always hardcore little kids who think they know metal better than anyone.

Unfortunately, I am neither of the two, I know little about metal.

Oh, I understand. I'll probably just ignore them if they reply to me like a douchebag, can't stand music elitists.:shakefist:

My knowledge is pretty decent when it comes to things like metal, I try my best to always do research on bands so I know what I'm talking about and to keep from sounding like an idiot, and to also be able to back up what I say If need to.

And that's ok,metal isn't for everyone. Anyway, thanks for the heads up! :)
