it isn't only about evolution. The sound you get is very different and more closer to the real sound of an instrument, and it catches broader sound waves, all the little transitions(e.g those of the drums). I don't know if you play something but if you do, you should know what I mean. Of course CDs and mp3 players are way more practical than a vinyl, I'm not saying we should get back to vinyl records - that wouldn't make sense, and it won't probably ever happen not only because technology evolves but also because we wouldn't be able to get back to it. But it's good to see that vinyl is not totally dying. Most of the times I listen to cds or mp3s, but sometimes I like to dig up the record player and enjoy a more "detailed" sound
I don't have a player right now but I always buy vinyls, I have some really good old ones! *Just bought a few Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Beach Boys a day or two ago* But I also have some new ones, I just love having them around. I'm hoping to get a record player soon. c:
Yay! I don't have really new ones, most of mine are records from the 70s or 80s. I have a vinyl edition of a record which came out in 2004 but I've actually never played it since it's more a collector's item.... I think I didn't even unwrapped it *shame over me*
I would collect vinyls if I actually had a player. Apparently they sound a lot better? But I have no idea, I've never listened to music from a vinyl before. But I like how nice and big the covers are.
I have two, I think. Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' and Joe Satriani's 'Not of this Earth'. My parents have a massive jukebox stuffed with all the records they could fit in there.
But I prefer CDs, so I can have a genuine physical copy that I can rip into FLAC. Vinyl is far too inconvenient to be practical.
I have a shitload of records besides. I did get rid of all my casettes when they came out with the CD. But I kept the records. I miss the big liner notes we used to get.
Vinyl lovers, anyone?
It's just another world...
