The thing that really bugs me about the show is the lack of representation of female nerds. It seems unrealistic that Bernadette or Amy would not being into anything like comic books or the like. That just because they are girls they can't show an interest in that kind of stuff. When Amy was first on the show she seemed smarter in the way they wrote her. Now she's just Sheldon's girlfriend. The way they write female characters just bothers me. I would also have to agree that they make fun of the fans. I used to really like this show too, but lately it has just gone down hill.
I get called Sheldon because I easily get obsessed with things, am socially akward, MAJOR OCD, and a nerd. And I agree on the maturity thing! I think that Penny looks all right, but I do nat want to see her frack Leonerd in EVERY episode! Tone it down a little please!
It's mostly how socially inadequate Sheldon is and I think they've caught the typical traits of a sociopath quite nicely. Especially how he, despite that he makes life difficult for those around him, has a severe superiority complex and shows little to no positive emotion towards others, manages to twist them all towards him and demands their attention and liking.
lol sheldon has the best sociopathic tendencies. very original character, and the guy who plays him is SUPER talented. (think he got an emmy on 2010? forget the name of that award) all in all great show, wish they made it a little less mature so that kids could get into it as well.
I watched a few episodes, but... I can't seem to like it. Mostly because it just makes fun of fans. The characters are portraied as weird and socially awkward because they like things like physics, comics, mathematics and electronics. Most of the jokes aim at you laughing at them. And the few jokes about their hobbies where you could laugh WITH them are too rare or too shallow to be really funny, in my eyes. :/
I get called Sheldon too by my parents, I think it's because I tend to get really obsessed with certain things, which I can then literally talk about for hours, even though I can easily get through a day without saying a word.
Same here, but I think it's because I'm picky about certain things, namely food. My food can't touch unless it "matches," and I'll grimace at their plates when I see icky combinations. Sheldon is just as picky about his food, making sure things are perfect or he won't eat them. They call me Monk too, based off the character Adriene(sp?) Monk, because we both will put our food in separate plates to keep them apart. And to mess with me, they go "I'd hate to be on a boat with Sheldon, Monk, and you." That's the only part I don't like: I'm not that bad. I will eat the food, just not the touching parts, and the separate plates aren't that bad either, especially if I'm the one washing them.
Well for me its probably how they act in social situations, like when they're talking to Penny, at a party, etc. Watching them be all nerdish is hilarious And all of Sheldon's funny comments on everything that everyone else does wrong is great
