Has anyone seen that 'The Spirit' trailer? Awww man.... to be honest I didn't know what The Spirit was till my friend told me it was a comic (as i should have expected from Frank Miller.....). And DID YOU NOTICE HOW THE UNTOUCHABLES THEME WAS THROWN IN THERE?! It got me soooooooo excited XD
I was worried that the way he was making The Spirit look, might make a lot of people think its a set-up for a sin-city sequel cause I don't think a lot of people know who The Spirit is...
It looks WAY too much like Sin City for my liking. I hope Frank Miller is not trying to turn The Spirit into something mean, dark, gritty and violent like Sin City, effectively pissing all over Will Eisner's legacy.
-- We do what we do because of who we are. If we did otherwise, we would not be ourselves." -Neil Gaiman's The Sandman
[link] just about sums up my fears. Frank Miller is good within his domain of dark-and-gritty comics, but I don't see him handling Eisner's mix of comedy and noirish pathos very well.
-- I would love to see this town in the autumn. I think Crabbeville in autumn would look quite magnificent. I would have made tiny little leaves oak, poplar, maple, chestnut and spread them across the town of Crabbeville. Magnificent.
It looks downright awful. Everything Frank Miller has worked on in the past 10 years has just been Sin City but with different characters. He's not capable of writing anything but the same crime-noir stuff. Why did anybody think his Spirit would be different? Eisner deserves better than this. They should have filmed a Contract with God instead.
to bad it said 2009....
