It's an awesome movie, beautiful. Tim Burton never stops amazing me.

I didn't knew it was going to be a musical when I went to watch it though, I was kinda shocked. :P And the parts where that sailor boy starts singing about Sweeney Todd's daughter (actually, every part where that guy sings), is awefull.

I totally loved it. I had to see it twice before I decided that though (I saw it when it first opened and I was...not entirely sober :weed:...so I wasn't sure how I felt about it). Then I bought it and watched it again, I totally love it. Johnny Depp is perfection personified, Helena Bonham Carter was great, and Sasha Baron Cohen rules.

The end made me sad though.

I really liked it. But thought that it was a shame they had to cut so much out of the original Musical. (Also Angela Lansbury was a far better Lovett than Helena Bohnam-Carter, but I guess her role in the film was inevitable.)

It was OK. Way too Burton on the visual department, but that's apparently his "style", so I suppose that's OK. I still have no fucking idea why he thought that Sweeney Todd, a traditional British character, should look like the singer from The Damned, from the clothes to the white spot on the right side of his hair.

The music was great. I mean, come on, it's Stephen Sondheim. I actually liked these versions of the songs, although in many instances it seems they were actually chopping off the humor from the play to leave nothing but the gritty revenge story (eg: "A Little Priest.") Arrangements were good. There are a few things from this version that I prefer over those from other versions. Pirelli's song, for example, sounds better on a lower tone and without the additional tooth verses.

Voices were OK. It's obvious nobody in the cast (except, perhaps, the girl who played Johanna) is actually a singer. Nellie's voice was pretty damn flat and I didn't enjoy her songs. It's like, come on, "the worst pies in london" is supposed to be upbeat and rythmically frantic. The movie version was just flat. Johnny was OK. He may not sing very well, but he's a great actor; his expressions often made up completely for the lack of force in his voice. Everyone else was OK. No complaints.

Story was OK. Didn't do anything outrageously out-of-place, like in Burton's Corpse Bride. I think I actually prefer this shortened version to the nearly three hours of the musical. It's still somewhat of a Count of Montecristo ripoff, though.

All and all, I liked the movie. It's a good rendition of the musical.
