God, it kills the suspension of disbelief... You get all sucked into a movie or show or whatever and then, all of the sudden, it's STAN LEE! And he does the same thing every time, he gives the main character the exact piece of advice they need to turn things around and win. It gets old.

I never really get sucked into marvel movies either way. The only movie I can even picture him in is fantastic four and he was in it for all of 5 seconds.
