Opinions on Elder Scrolls Online?

I'm really excited about it to be honest, and I signed up to beta test it so *fingers crossed* ^_^

For those gamers who are limited to Sims 3 and Pokemon Maroon or w/e it's up to now, [link]

So yea, thoughts? Do you think it'll stand up to other MMORPG's or end up in the gutter with Diablo 3?

This game is likely going to be Bethesda's TORtanic. TBH Elder Scrolls hasn't been great since Daggerfall or Morrowind.

ESO seems promising, so I might even end up trying it even though I am not a fan of MMOs. Also, the cinematic trailer was awesome.

I have a hunch that it will be kind of like Lord Of The Rings online (pay to play) /pay per month system.
The best part is, since its online they can dole out MASSIVE amounts of content for a pretty long time, keeping players satisfied.
Tbh, it might just be building hype though, and kind of die down after a while...
Offtopic: If you want a solid, and i mean SOLID mmorpg, check out Blade and Soul being released in NA on this year (june, i think)
its an mmorpg that uses the Unreal 3 engine. Unreal 3. completely over powered, and it isnt point n click, theres a lot of button mashing involved.

I believe that LOTR online is a pretty good game? That's just from what I've heard, never played it myself. And I do agree with you, that's something I've been thinking about too. Since the back story is pretty, well.. standard, I think they will have a lot of room to release updates and expansions if they wanted to.

Just looking at the trailer now, the style is not what I expected at all! But damn it looks cool.

ALSO: [link] interesting.

oh of course, LOTRO is heaps of fun,(i invested half my summer onto that game), but only because their business model ended up being successful, i dont know if it will be the same for ESO though (as LOTR was already a monstrous franchise to begin with)

nice trailer!im all pumped up :D

Well, I know that Bethesda always puts huge amounts of work into every game they produce, especially when it comes to story and lore and such, so that's one thing we can be sure will be great :) As for game-play, from what I've seen it looks similar to Skyrim, which is a good thing, as Skyrim had the best combat system in the Elder Scrolls series. And the fan base is there, for sure, so they'll have no problems getting people to play it. I think Bethesda will have another success :D

Hope so! Bethesda is just the publisher tho. Zenimax is the ones developing it. I just hope that the fan base likes it!

Hmm true Zenimax is the developer. Lol how could I forget that? And i'm betting the fanbase will love it :) It already looks amazing :)

I'm a TES enthusiast since Daggerfall so i'm following this game, yet I have some doubts about it, after watching several screenshots and the trailer it seemed to be... bland...

One can only hope that I'm wrong with this presupposition.

Have you watched this? [link]

We'll never know until we play. I trust that the developers understand people's concerns about it ^_^ I'd imagine that trying to accommodate TES fans and generic MMORPG fans is a very tricky thing.

From what I have seen it looks like a generic MMORPG that has already made the mistake of being far back 3rd person.
It's combat looks exactly like Kingdoms of Amular including the art style.
If they don't pull something special out of the bag then I will not be getting it.

Hopefully they will! I hope they do a trial sort of thing that gives you an idea of what the gameplay is like.

I must say the concepts they have going sound really good on paper, but we'll just have to wait how they pan out. I've also signed up to the beta test so now all we can do is wait. Lorewise I think there's going to be enough for the TES fans, but they never failed to deliver on that part anyway!

They always put tonnes of thought into it. I know a lot of TES fans were a bit against it because of TES having a 'chosen one' sort of thing which would be hard to work in with an MMORPG.

The only concern I have for the game is the physics engine P:

For as far as I know it seems you follow the ways of one of 3 factions. What they are REALLY gonna do with the story? I wouldn't know so I just hope for the best.

I vaguely remember when ESO was announced, IGN said it would follow a main quest line and there's something important about werewolves. The trailer shows that as well but it doesn't seem to be as major as IGN made it seem. Tbh the website doesn't even hint at much, the 'story of ESO' is more of a back story than anything.

I personally steer away from IGN, they seem to get more and more biased by the day. Let alone the fact they take briberies from companies so they give high ratings to games that don't really deserve it while at the same time the hidden pearls in games are being underappreciated.

And yeah I saw something like that too. Here's to me hoping that it doesn't turn into Twilight Online though haha.

(p.s. I just noticed in an earlier comment I said ''thanks man'', I obviously didn't look before I said that, it's something I say out of habit. My apologies :) )

Oh that's interesting to know o: I'll take their articles with a grain of salt from now on.

Skyrim involved a lot of vampires and werewolves, and I thought that worked quite well. It might be a bit overboard though with all the classes they are bringing in.

And not a problem ^_^
