Pretty much all Sonic games, Pokemon, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
I freaking LOVE Silver the Hedgehog's theme song. ^^

Gonna have to go again with DoDonPachi. It might as well just be it's own fucking radio station. It has so many damn soundtracks that have penetrated so many genres including rock, trance, techno, chiptune, dupstep, and even jazz at some points. But DoDonPachi 4 Black Label...my favorite.

Then comes Mirror's Edge and the Solar Fields score. That was some euphoric goodness.

And then Radio Allergy on Wii and Dreamcast.

Pick a Castlevania, almost any Castlevania. Half the reason I play Castlevania is to hear the music.

Grandia II would be my other pick. I can't put my love for it into words.

I hear Castlevania come up often. The music is very iconic, but I'm certainly not a fan. Maybe I should give it another shot, though -- I don't listen to it very often.

I was actually thinking about this previously when I realised how much of an integral part music is when it comes to videogames for me. There are a load of pretty average games that I would have put down ages ago if it wasn't for the music. Hell, the reason why it's such a joy to blast through metal slug 3 so many times is because of the kick-ass soundtrack. In fact, I'd say about 50% of my iTunes library was made up entirely of videogame soundtracks

jet set radio future: amazing game both gameplay and soundtrack.
need for speed hot pursuit 2: good game all round really. good gameplay and music. they came togeter really well.

to be honest there is alot of games ive liked for there soundtrack but none of them are really coming to mind straight off the bat. so i'll stick with jet set radio future. i think most would agree with that choice.

some other games that are coming to mind at this point are need for speed underground and halo 2. however i dont remember the soundtracks well enough to add them to my suggestions.

Final Fantasy X. I'm sorry but To Zanarkand pawns everything.

Xenoblade, NieR, Catherine, Persona 4, Radiata Stories, Resonance of Fate, and Fire Emblems PoR and RD.

I do love the music on Radiata Stories. It's so underrated as a game.

What did you think of Mass Effect 3's soundtrack? I felt it was lacking in the same iconic sound and themes that featured in 1 + 2. Overall I was kinda disappointed with it..

I hear Wind Waker come up more and more often these days. The soundtrack is very stylized and iconic -- I'm a big fan of it. Last year, we played the Staff Credits at I think two different concerts.

The rest are amazing as well, of course :D We've actually played music from all of them except for Legacy of Goku 2

Sometimes I play Donkey Kong 64 when I'm questing in World of Warcraft. Very oddly fits imo.

Ar Tonelico has some good soundtracks, though I've never even played the game.

Ace Combat also always has good tracks to listen to. Some of them I have on a CD so I can pretend I'm flying a jet when I'm flying down the highway to work. xD

Tyrian, the game itself is awesome and the music is the icing on the cake, it fits the mood perfectly and gets you so pumped up; it still has that 90s style 'this is videogame music' feel that most games today lack.

the Silent Hill series, Akira is a great artist, though Daniel Licht did a great job in Downpour as well.
Heavy Rain wouldn't be the same with out its orchestra.
Halo does have good music i cannot lie.
The Zelda games always has nice tunes.
I like the music in Dragon Age.
I enjoyed the sound they had for The Suffering.

Mother 3's music was perfect in context. Out of context, it's just good (however listening to it, it's really hard not to remember the whole thing in-game anyway).

Xenogears has some really pretty music. We played Bonds of Sea and Fire in our traditional ensemble and it was beautiful writing.

Yeah, it's interesting how the Mother series really requires that you play the game in order to truly "get" the music. Earthbound's like that too, though I'm actually not really a big fan of that soundtrack.

Xenogears' soundtrack is one of the best ever, imo. Personally, I'm rather fond of June Mermaid and Flight.
