I could imagine Rodland in an adventure-platformer adaptation (2D or 3D) with Tam and Rit hitting their age of puberty. Their adventures could include their maturing and learning to fly with their grownup proportions while having to solve a dire situation they somehow become involved with (along with episodic side-problems, of course).
Their magical skills would be also in development (both of them knowing some simple spells already), and the events surrounding them would force them to learn using said skills in an inventive fashion (e.g. to toss or pull unreachable levers in a way as with the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2). They would also acquire staffs and other equipment that could provide them other forms of magic (like a cloak of invisibility, or other such things).
And yes, I miss Quake's dark, Lovecraftian atmosphere a lot. Quake II was very disappointing when I first saw its screenshots. "What does this have to do with the original?" I asked.
Dante is still an arrogant ass, combat feels true to the series. I've been hearing SO MUCH fanboy hate for the reboot that it's pretty hilarious. Instead of getting the exact same thing with a new name, they're getting something that's actually different and has a lot of potential, so they bitch. If they can DMC3 repackaged as the next one, they would bitch that it was the same shit. Seriously, gamers are the biggest fucking whiners.
So people aren't allowed to hate something because it's a game now?

Look, I don't care if people like the new game, it's not my mission to tell people to stop liking it, but I honestly hate the game.
Dante used to have some class to him, but for this game they just turned him into a try hard edgy jerk that swears because it's "edgy" and not because the moment actual calls for it. I don't want DMC 3 repackaged, I want an actual sequel that's true to the original 4 games and expands upon the 4th games combat. The series didn't need a reboot and looking at Ninja Theories skills when it comes to writting stories, (they had to hire writers to save their scripts for Heavenly Sword and Enslaved because they had no idea what they were doing) this really doesn't look like it has any potential. They don't even know what Nephilim are supposed to be and are trying to pass them off as half angels, half demons.
Then the combat is really just a flashy unresponsive broken mess. You can spam air attacks and never touch the ground, taking out all of the challenge because the ground enemies are completely defenseless in the air. The combat has been simplified, with a style meter that never goes down. You can get a SSS rank in one 3 hit combo. [link]
The lack of styles, nerfing of guns, and tameem's attitude are other things that turns me off from this game.
From what the demo has shown, the game just sucks for a Devil May Cry game. I'll purchase the game eventually to give the full game a shot, but mostly to laugh at it's craptastic dialogue, if the poison boss battle is anything to go by.
tl;dr People are complaining for valid reasons and no, they don't want DMC 3 repackaged, they just don't want a crap "edgy" reboot of a franchise with simplified broken combat.
Okay, I see your point now that you actually explained it, instead of making claims without any support whatsoever.
I never played DMC for the writing or story, so that's something I couldn't really care less about. And yes, I noticed the style meter never going down in combat....hopefully this is something that will be patched before release.
