Grow a thicker skin and don't give up on gaming, there is not a single gamer who haven't. Usually they are hormone driven teenagers or immature di***s. I get at least one primitive, grammatically incorrect and senseless insult a week and I usually put it here: [link] you see now? you are not alone
Idiots are everywhere, that's what I have learned in life. Can't get away from 'em, even in the digital realm. I mostly just play games by myself now, or with my close friends, cause I know I will have fun with them when I do.
I once ate chicken while on mic, I didn't even notice. This is what happened: Guy: ASUKA IS SUKIN DIK me: no, I'm just eating chicken. Guy: NO GUIZE SRSLY, SHEZ SUKIN DIK. Everybody else: What kind of chicken? me: Tandoori guy: OH IS A INDIAN COK me: shut up.
that guy also asked to be my boyfriend after all that, nthx bra.
It's unfortunate that this happens, but if people are such douche bags in real life, I doubt people will act any different in an online environment. I get where you are coming from. Truth be told, I didn't start playing games online until late 2008. The first game I ever went online in was Super Smash Bros. Brawl. For the first week or two I was having a great time. It was exciting playing against other people across the globe other than people I knew in my local area. Later I realized that things weren't all happy fun sunshine in the world of online gaming. From glitch abusers, trollers, to hackers, the experience went south. Now that's just the Wii. When I moved to Xbox 360 the experience seemed 2x worse. Now you got verbal abuse. People feel so much more empowered anonymously behind a might, no? What I've come to the conclusion of was that all gamers what to do nowadays online is to make someone else feel miserable just to make themselves feel good. I'm not saying online gaming is bad, but playing with random nobodies gets really old after awhile. These days I just play offline and limit online play to just friends.
The world of internet gaming is full of bitter, hate-filled, antisocial people whose primary goal is to make others feel bad. The great thing about playing online is that it provides the distance and anonymity they require to behave that way. If they tried it in your home, an arcade or a tournament, they'd get their asses thoroughly kicked.
Pay it no mind. When it comes to dealing with pricks, I'm of a mind to believe that if I don't respect a person than their words shouldn't affect me. Why lose sleep over some douchebag with a username like "URaFagLOL". Let him hate all he wants. And laugh because you can almost guarantee that kind of behavior has made them angry, lonely failures in almost every aspect of their lives. When the game ends, they have nothing but a self-made shit pile of an existence to look forward to.
I remember the good old days of World of Warcraft where you made real genuine friends and no one judged you or trolled you or something of that nature. The game is pretty much FUBAR now and there's no going back, unfortunately.
They are everywhere, even more in F2P games as they dont risk anything unfortunatly. TF2 is a nightmare to play on some servers due to the massive micspamming and idiots screaming at you "not to steal their kills" -.- Geese, why cant they just forbid those morons connecting to the internet at all? The internet would be so much a better place without them.
Funny enough, I recently had a whole blog post about stuff like this. I think it'll help explain some of what goes on, although probably not everything. [link] My advice? Find a forum specifically for a multiplayer game you play. Or, if you've got it on Steam, then see if you can find some reasonable people in the new Game Hub discussions. It's how I find people to play games like Dead Space 2 and Spec Ops: The Line with.
Have you played Lord of the Rings online? It's an MMO and people on there are really nice, so much so it's kinda weird. I'm on the Imladris server (IIRC) and people on there are always giving away things. Once I couldn't find a fireplace so I could cook something and, after asking on the regional chat, someone began to travel across the map to show me where it was. O_o
I've played Lord of the Rings Online before, although once I reached level 10 I became lost where to go in the game, it's not like WoW where you know exactly where to go for each level bracket area. However what I didn't like about LotRO are these story quests, one is a escort quest where you have bandits of such attacking you and the npc, I tried that quest with Hunter and I'm too slow yet while a melee class you can to quick about it but you end up taking the damage most. But the worst quest I've tried to do is this one where you got to sneak in a place to rescue an NPC from evil elite dwarves, if they see you they will all come after and you can evade them from running away.
Those are some seriously difficult quests all at level 10 or something.
It seems more like they're complaining about you dragging down the team more than griefing; the best thing to do is just ignore it, or actually get better at the game so they can't insult you so much. And just for future reference, when somebody types "QQ", it means they want you to exit the game.
Some people enjoy making fun of other and stuff. I personally have done TROLLED few times, like: Feeding enemy in LoL just because my team bitched that none of us can play. That's true, 99% of randoms aren't master league players. I have trolled in Black Ops just cause.. aka run behind a guy and shoot to expose location.
I agree. I tried to play several MMOs, but they were all filled with those trolls you speak of. They offer no support to help you get better, only insults. It's worse when they can kill your avatar: they'll gloat about it forever.
The only MMO practically devoid of trolls (in game, the Forums are still troll-filled) was STO, and that's not for everyone's tastes, as it's not a normal MMO.
