when i first heard the title, i didn't take is so seriously. but then i watched a trailer of it: a blonde cheerleader with a chainsaw fighting zombies. no words can describe the sheer random awesome that had. it was hyped for a while now. does it live up to that hype? sort of? maybe?
i've seen gameplay videos of it and it looked good. despite the linear repetitive gameplay and the.... image(?) (seriously, think about what the people's reaction would be if they see men buying a game with a cheerleader on the front cover...), it looks like it's a solid game. a hack and slash game with upgrading and funny humor. it doesn't really have a deep story, but what did you really expect from a game named "lollipop chainsaw"? you can't even take the name itself seriously.
plus, this game has good voice acting, with tara strong being one. how she went from an al bhed, a kid with fairy godparents, and a purple unicorn with a marking on her flank to a cheerleader with a chainsaw for a weapon and a decapitated head for a boyfriend i may never know. and seriously, a CHAINSAW! who wouldn't wanna use that as a weapon in a zombie apocalypse?
well, i can't wait to try this game myself. but what about you guys who have played it or at least seen the game? is it good? meh at best?
For the most part, I think it looks like something only a teenage boy should get excited over -- a bubbly, blonde ditz with small clothing and upskirt shots all over the place. Pretty much just porn for the sexually deprived.
I know it's not supposed to be a "serious" game, but it's beyond ridiculous, to the point of being offensive to a lot of people. I saw someone above who won't play it because of the sheer sexism, and I can agree with that.
well, one did say that it is also supposed to be a parody of the horror genre of gaming. so, i guess they meant to make it as ridiculous and somewhat offensive as possible. and the ditzy bubbly cheerleader stereotype has been a staple trope in movies and games for a long time. i'm surprised people still find it offensive and sexist to this day.
Personally I love it. Combines all the things I loved when I was a little girl growing up watching Power Puff Girls: rainbows, zombies, blood, sparkles, profanity, bright colors, a bit of shopping, a great soundtrack, with humor.
The story is a tad on the shorter side, and it may not have the amount of combos and such in other hack n' slash titles, like the DMC series and Bayonetta. However I find it's silliness and overall creativity will have me coming back to play it again.
