"You are like me. Special. Why do you want to hurt other special people?" "Everything looks legitimate if you put quotation marks around it." "You killed Church you Teamkilling Fucktard!"
I bought it. It's quite fun most of the time but it can bet extremely irritating when you go from 1st place to last place just because you slip on a banana or get hit by a blue shell.
It's awesome. I love how it isn't as easy as previous Mario Kart games have been, like the N64 version. My only problem? Rainbow Road. I hate it. Stupid, stupid course. And the lightning cloud item is possibly the WORST item ever invented for that game. But other than that, I love the game. I think Mario Kart is always going to be amazing.
-The dumbed down drift boost system. It was awesome on the DS as it really made pros stand out from sucky players. There was a lot of skill and technique involved, now its just not as good. They dumbed it down because sucky whining players who couldn't use it well, shame on them!
-The look. Its not the graphics either. I'm talking about the style. Everything looks fisher price-y and toyish. And shiny. I know thats the style they were going for, same as double dash... but its ugly. I actually think the DS game looks better, BECAUSE the graphics WEREN'T good enough to do that style! Talk about irony.
Other than that, I like the game a lot. Its great.

[Bernard: I don't know, it's an impossible choice. Walls, thermometers, I'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me.]
Also, its really stupid how you lose your items (mushrooms etc) if you get hit by certain weapons. The items should be meant to recover from those attacks; making you lose them as you get hit removes an element of strategy. Now you pretty much have to use them right away when you get them.

I would argue that playing Mario Kart while looking for competition largely based on skill and technique is probably not a good idea, as the series has never been known for it and likely never will be. The fact that the blue shell even exists should be evidence for this. Its a game about everyone having fun, not about one person exploiting a glitch to win the race in the most boring fashion possible.
