I do believe Homestuck is a beautiful webcomic, no matter how long and confusing. I have somehow gotten addicted to it... and I cannot stop reading, even though a lot of parts are super random and ridiculous. Anyone agree/ have the same thing happen?
I did try to read it despite a lot of the really irritating fan base. I. Tried. It's too stupid for me to bear and no, not beautiful in the least. Haven't touched it since my attempt. (Granted, my opinion, BUT that's it) Don't get me wrong, I must say I'm amazed at the fanart, some of my favorite artists love Homestuck, and they portray these characters beautifully. Muuuuch more beautifully than they were designed to be honest, but I don't really need to enjoy the subject to appreciate the artwork XD That's my view!
SO I love webcomics, so much I have a wecomic day (wednesday) where I read read upards of 50 comics. Id stumbled onto homestuck a couple of times and I couldnt get myself to read past three or four pages, I didnt get it. Here on dA there was a period where you would see some sort of troll art reach the front page almost every day, and I'd be confused to no end. But thats just exposition.
I just recently got into homestuck when PBS Idea channel over on youtube did a video about it [link] thats what picked my interest and I decided to give it another go, once I had A vague idea on what it was about. And I've been obsessed since then. I realized how completely unique Homestuck is, there is just nothing else like it, and there probably won't be anything like it after it. Im just amazed by the amount of foresight AH puts into it, you'll be reading and it and then that little quirk that happened 1000-2000 pages ago, yeah that was important and had this purpose. It just blows my mind how well thought out the whole thing is. Also I have to keep reminding myself that yeah, ALL these caracters, they are written all by one guy. The characters are so varied and unique and quirky, and not to mention verbose and surpisingly eloquent, its just amaging he can write so many characters still have each one have a unique and complicated voice.
SO yeah I have nothing but praise to spout about homestuck, it just blew me away.
i used to absolutely hate it because of the fans. i couldn't bring myself to read it, so that was plain old idiocy. then i read the first three acts and STILL didn't like it. but then my friend did a character meme (which character are you) and i got feferi so i suddenly got some motivation to read it and BAM I AM ADDICTED i mean look at my username and icon heh i actually think it's one of the most genius concepts of all time. like. literally. it's really hard to surprise me in literature and books, and homestuck actually managed to do that. it's really well thought out, if a little (read: a lot) rambly. i fell behind a while back, and i haven't had the time to catch up. i hope to do so while tumblr's down. i wish i had got into it earlier...
Me and almost all my friends absolutely love Homestuck. There are only two or three that can't seem to get into it. However, they have only read it maybe once or twice - I'm sure they will come around.
I definitely feel that while Homestuck isn't for everyone; Homestuck has something FOR everyone. It takes a bit to get into but once you do I find that more people become addicted to it - which is okay! Some of the fans are a bit more radical than other, but this applies to any fandom.
What do y'all think about the videogame Hussie is getting ready to develop?
