Am I weird for feeling a little disappointed some stuff wasn't on that list? Not that I don't think they're horrible, depraved excuses for literature, but just because they're so much more... "more" than books that get picked on for... man, I don't even know what some of those books' problems were...
Me neither; schools don't assign books they think will be damaging to children, and parents should only control their children's reading material in the privacy of their own homes.
I agree. However, it's the parent's right to control their kid's education that allows them to dictate what is banned and what isn't. And most parents fight for something to be banned because they don't want to acknowledge that the book's content is a real problem for their kids.
Take Speak for example. It's about rape, which is a very real and scary problem now days. However, parents don't like to think that it is, thus making the books "harmful" for their children.
oh dear...what has society come to? Children need to be subjected to the material in books as such to learn properly and we are taking away the subject matter away from them that allow them to do so...well...there goes our future...and our hopes... Pouvre Fahrenheit 451, j'adore toi anyway.
That's a really nice goal. I've only read 9 of those books/series. Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret, by Judy Blume is my favorite book out of that list.
Here's the list.
