Hello and welcome to deviantArt

Welcome to deviantArt (dA), a large and ever growing online community. :) It is here on dA where you can upload your art, chat with fellow deviants, blog in your Journal, enter contests, post on forums, among others. The main thing about dA, is it is one big community with many features, so here is a very short intro. ;)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) & Asking for Help
These are, as the title suggests, frequently asked questions about dA itself. So if you have a question about dA the first place to check for an answer is the FAQ page, where a huge database of knowledge is at your fingertips.

If you can't find the answer there, you can always ask at the Helpdesk, where you can file a ticket which the wonderful Help Desk Team will answer. :) That is also where you can ask questions about dA Policy and such.

Or you can go to the chatroom #help where a team of dA staff, volunteer MN@ and helpers can assist.

Submitting Art
Once you submit art, it will be added to your personal gallery on your page. :D To submit you can to click the little gray dA logo below the large one at the top-left area of the window where a drop-down menu will apear, where the first option is "Submit Deviation, or look for the same link at the right side of your user page. ;) FAQ #79: How do I submit Artwork? tells the rest.

Browsing the Art
At the very top of the page, there is a Browse link that leads you to the browsing are of the artworks on dA. :D The browsing settings available will allow you to choose what specific category you wish to look through. :)

There is also a Search Function, located at the top of the page if you wish search around for specific deviations. ;)

Purchasing Art
Prints are high quality deviations that other deviants upload which are displayed at the ~shop, a link is also displayed at the top of every page. That is where you can purchase Prints and other products such as mugs and mouse pads.

Services
The Services page is where you can go to purchase other things from dA, namely a Subscription, a Premium Prints Account, or adCast. Subscribing opens up several more features for you (including, but definitely not limited to, adding CSS to your journal, larger thumbnails, and journal enhancements) and will also give you ad-free browsing. A Premium Prints Account pretty much upgrades your default Prints Account. And adCast allows you to promote yourself.

deviantArt Messaging Network (dAmn)
The dAmn consists of the previously mentioned built-in chat where you can talk to fellow deviants in real-time. There are numerous rooms to choose from if you want to chat, and if you want you can even make your own!

Another part of the dAmn is the forums, where you are now. :D As you probably have already seen the forums have many categories of discussion, ranging from computer Hardware to Help With Life to the Welcome Forum. ;) So be sure to post threads in the right place.

Getting Noticed
Now dA is an immense site, with people joining every day, and thousands already active as we speak, so it is easy to get overlooked if you are not active. ;) So remember, the best way to get noticed is to notice other people! Comment Comment Comment on other people's deviations is the way of getting people to know you. ;)

So that's pretty much the basics of dA :D Feel free to roam around and explore :aww:, and if you ever get lost, don't forget to check the places where you can ask for help. ;)

Have fun. :fella:
