so, at college i seem to work differently to others, i'm much more playful in my work and i'm always moving from one idea to the next and coming up with new ideas.

so is there anyone that wants to share anything which is original, as in the thought behind the piece?

please post up to 5 thumbs and write a little about them to, especially unusual techniques and ideas

all media welcomed.

here's some of mine for example:
:thumb85843249: - scratching off the back of a mirror :thumb79980937: - combining natural and man made materials :thumb79973413: - paint pouring onto wall and plastic acrylic rectangles :thumb79863693: - afterwards :thumb79823348: - pouring liquid wax into a tube of water.

Concept: Photographing fluorescent minerals. It isn't easy. This picture was difficult to take because of the darkness in the tent, the many black lights, and the glowing rocks. I was lucky to get this decent image considering all of the difficult elements.

Concept: Photographing all that glitters and sparkles. When something is glittery and sparkly it's really hard for me to get a good photo of it. This closeup view shows you an exquisite sparkling pile of Herkimer Diamonds. It's such a unique thing to see and one which overwhelmed my camera's light settings. Luckily I was able to compensate.

Here's a neat concept. These are real leaves which have been electroplated. What's neat is that the metal has adhered itself to just the skeletal veins of each leaf. So when you hold up one of these leaves to the light, you can see light through it. These metal leaves feel light and airy just as if they weren't coated in metal, but they'll last forever - unlike real leaves.

Using fossils for jewelry is a neat concept. This image is of a pile of ammonites that were for sale at the show. Ammonites are the coiled, flat, chambered fossil shells of an extinct cephalopod mollusk that was abundant in the Cretaceous Period. These ones have been polished to bring out their colors and to make them shiny. Many people use them for wire wrapping.

Another interesting concept: Using nuts as jewelry. The Tagua nut is an extremely hard nut that comes from the Ivory nut palm. Its endosperm can be carved and polished like ivory, making it a botanical alternative to elephant ivory and giving rise to the name "vegetable ivory." These ones have been polished and dyed pretty colors.

Not really original as it is a fractal, but it just turned out so cool I have to share it. Of course, I guess my idea of cool isn't always someone else's version of cool. :)

not really that interesting, but it is my only pic with only one color... so I find it cool that I managed it

i had been sketching the bottom part of my face for a few days and i hadn't done oil in FOREVER so i wanted to experiment in skin tone and expressions.
an experiment in textures i kind of just let things go onto the wood.
