These are the common suggestions people have brought up in the past. Please do not mention any of these in your suggestion thread. We may or may not look into adding these in the future.

:fella: Add a section for music.

We agree that music is a valid art form, however at this time there will be no addition of music, due to the copyright issues surrounding it.

FAQ #343: Will deviantART ever allow uploading of music files?

:fella: Disable Right Click.

Unfortunately there are people out there who will improperly use/reuse works made by other deviants. Due to this ongoing problem with art theft, some have made the suggestion of disabling right-click, and other schemes. Unfortunatly there is really no way to keep people from stealing your work if it is visible on the internet. There are countless ways around the disabling of right clicking, and doing that only makes you feel safe when really you aren't. The best option is to watermark you image (putting a semi-transparent image with your name or something over your image). dA does allow you to add a watermark though, so you can use that if you wish.

FAQ #330: Will deviantART disable right-clicking?
FAQ #332: Does deviantART have an option in place that will automatically watermark my deviations?

:fella: Site Style Customization.

Some of you may remember our site themes, or skins. These offered users a minimal level of customization for thier userpages. Unfortunately, these have been disabled in order to get higher priority work done, and may not make a return.

There are those who wish to take this one step futher and have customized layouts and color schemes that they can put in place for deviantART.

deviantART's current scheme and layout is made to be non-distracting (as the focus should really be the art), easy to use, and as close to eye-pleasing as possible. For this reason, we do not forsee adding total user customization of these elements in the future. However, we are looking into other options to allow for a more personalized experience, so watch out for those in the future!

:fella: Editing and Deleting Comments and Forum Posts.

Ever make a mistake while posting, or wanted to remove a 'bad comment'? While these are understandable wishes, deviantART does not delete or allow for editing of comments or forum posts as policy.

FAQ #336: Will deviantART add the ability to edit comments or forum posts?
FAQ #160: Can I remove or delete comments on my userpage, journal or deviations?

:fella: Larger Avatars.

One's avatar is their personal statement and helps others identify them quickly and easily on deviantART. The current size requirements (50px by 50px and under 15KB) were chosen with the site layout in mind, and to make page loading times a little faster for those who are not on broadband connections (and those with computers that aren't 'fast').

With this in mind, we do not plan to lift this limitation, nor will there be much of a change in the filesize or dimension limits.

FAQ #547: Why are avatars so small? Why can't we have a larger avatar?

:fella: Use a forum like phpBB.

Whilst phpBB is a good forum for personal use, the current deviantART forum was designed and coded in house, this means that we can tweak it and alter it as we need. Yes phpBB may have features that deviantART forums do not have, but this is through our choice. If we want these features then we can add them as neccesary. Add onto it that these forums are completely integrated into the rest of the site, from notices in your message centre to the admin tools, it just doesn't make sense to switch to another system.

FAQ #331: Why doesn't deviantART use a *real* forum system, like Invision or PHPBB?

:fella: Delete empty/abandoned ("dead") accounts.

This won't happen for 2 reasons.

Firstly, all accounts are kept for historical purposes. Secondly, what would happen if the deviant returned after a while and found that their account had been taken over by someone else?

With those two reasons in mind it has been decided that it is unwise and unfair to remove "dead" accounts.

FAQ #201: Do you close unused accounts, or release them to the public?

:fella: Userlist Listing All Accounts.

Userlistings are a great way to find new folks on a smaller sized site, but with deviantART's hefty 4 million (and steadily growing!) userbase, such a list would be impractical. We recommend using on site features, such as the Today page, the Random Deviation and Random Deviant links to find new galleries to explore! There are ways to perform site specific searches with your favourite search engines, too, which may help you find certain users.

FAQ #553: Why does deviantART not have a complete member listing?

:fella: Allow us to see mature content if we are under 18.

The mature content system has disabled viewers under 18 to see mature content. We do not plan on making this possible in the future.

:fella: Disable Hot Topics in the message centre.

We feel that the Hot Topics are important information that you should read. These often include bug issues and new features being released. We do not plan on disabling Hot Topics at this time

:fella: Changing your username.

You can not currently change your username, just be careful when you choose yours. You can, however, make a new account if you wish to change yours.

FAQ #112: Can I change my deviantART username?

:fella: Add page numbers to the replies on long forum posts.

This one is popular, but at this time you only have the next page/previous page on long forum replies.

:fella: Add an option to disable favs on club accounts.

At this time there is no plans on enabling the the possibility for turning off favs on club accounts. Since club accounts are not officially supported by dA, it is up to the club to decide what can be fav'd and how it should be run.

FAQ #764: Will deviantART disable favourites, so my club doesn't have to worry about members main deviations losing favourites?

:fella: Go back to the old version, or take out the new feature.

New features will be released and we do not plan on throwing all the hard work the staff does just because it's different or you're not used to it and don't like it. Use it for a few weeks and chances are that you will grow to like it. Some features may not be 100% working when first released, but be sure that we are working hard to get them running as smoothly as possible.

FAQ #724: Why do you put out new features when things are broken?
FAQ #723: How come things are not better tested before they are released?

:fella: Add the option to let us play music on our page.

Many people have asked for embeded music players, and while this may seem like a good idea to you, most people find music that plays on a site annoying. Along with the copyright issues (weather hosted from deviantART or not) we do not plan on adding a music player to your page.

:fella: Add a rating system to art, or qualifications on your artistic talent before you join.

We used to have a rating system, but it failed and won't be coming back. Rating systems just open up the doors to abuse. Therefore we won't be adding anything like a rating system or a need to 'apply' to deviantART before you can join. Besides, the whole point of deviantART is that anyone can join, no matter what their artistic skill is.
