I was reading someones journal about this.

I came here at 17 and I had the option to see work in the filter if I wanted to. Hey, I think it's bogus. For the legal issue, I understand. Maybe dA is just trying to cover their ass on things such as the mature content and like you said, the lawsuit crap can happen.

Although, I don't think we should block the crap. Besides, it is SO EASY to sign up and say you are 18 years old. It really is. Then again as you said, legal issues. They are probably trying to find a way to cover their own ass.

THe thing is... I thought art was treated more "mature" like an adult. Then again, there are catagories like "Pin-up Art" and all that... I do see another reason here... People (especially the 12 and 15 year olds) would like to draw this Naruto yaoi fetish and then there is a problem here of people under 18 doing these "pin-up" type of arts. Also, some of the fans would go like "MMMM YUM!" but not leave anything constructive or treat the artwork in a ceratin way other than just plain pin-up. So, I have contradicting thoughts about this filter rule thing. Although, I think parents should just block their child off if they don't want their child on it. They can always change some settings or block certain addresses on the net for the child. Just the thing is that some aprents don't come home til what time and have no idea what a child does on the net. I don't know. I have contradicting ideas. Although, I am more NOT for this new rule. I mean, there are some thigns where I don't think a child should be blocked form seeing things... Such as nude figure sketches that are only drawn for more "educational" purposes.
