Hello,
~CodeIsArt is a new group wanting to promote programming as an art form, here at deviantART. There are many, many programmers here at dA, but as deviantART has no official Code gallery, submissions have been stunted, and many people would not think to publish programming as art simply because the general populace may not understand.
~CodeIsArt is here to recognise programming as an art form and allow programmers to come together.
There is a good discussion on the whole topic of 'is code art?' going on here [link]
This suggestion is to ask DeviantART staff to provide a Code gallery for us to submit programming art in a recognised location.
There are some kinds of codes already allowed. Journal CSS, program skins and themes, and program extensions/plugins. There are categories for all of them.
That FAQ covers the submission of download-able, compiled Software, which is not code, and could contain viruses. This is my submission of code as art [link] and is perfectly acceptable.
No there are not. I was unable to place my piece in any appropriate categories and had it moved to scraps by dA until they recommended the screenshots gallery as the only viable place for this piece of art. I do not find that an acceptable category for my art. Please try either viewing my art properly, or submitting your own programming art.
It certainly is an art. There's an endless number of ways you can do any one thing in code, and like every other form, there are people that are horrible at it, and people that make some of the nicest looking code around.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
