Remove demotivationals

The ones that are blatant art theft, that is. I don't think taking a screenshot of something and then putting words underneath would even qualify as parody, either.

How would you feel (idgaf about my own "art" I know it's crap) anywho, how would you feel if someone took your photography work and then put words under it for a demotivational, with out so much as even crediting you?

Forgive me if I'm completely misunderstanding how copyright works but I wouldn't think putting a few words under something would be protected. Some of them even have "verydemotivational.com" in the corner.

See there's a difference between taking a screenshot of a copyrighted material and drawing it yourself for a parody. It's the screenshotting ones I think should be removed.

Rage comics too, because again they're just other people's work used without crediting whatsoever.

if you look in the FAQ, demotivationals aren't even allowed here, yet I've still seen some on the front page. It specifically says that demotivationals are not allowed (somewhere, I can't find it exactly). It's sad, being on the front page actually meant a little something before.

I'd rather not have them banned but rather moved to the scrapbooks of people's galleries. Now if we only do the same with creations in flash doll makers and proxy cards...

Those things are funny but they belong on Tumblr not here.

What seperates DeviantART from places like YouTube, is people don't really post other people's work, it's very frowned upon. In Youtube, there's a shitload of entire MOVIES posted by people who weren't even born when it was made :P

Yeah...but the copyright holder has to inform dA for it to be taken down. They're not going to go hunting around trying to make sure it isn't theft, we're supposed to police ourselves.

I don't think it's really fair to not allow them just on the grounds that they may feature stolen art, though it's normal for this to be the case there are still people who will make them with original content. (in theory?)

Rage comics, demotivationals, and other memes belong on meme sites. Not deviantART, UNLESS it is an art meme circulating deviantART, or every part of the image was drawn/made by the person themselves. Seeing as dA does have a category for memes. But yeah if it was something that was copy + pasted with text added, it doesn't belong here
