When I explain this issue, it may seem trivial, but I assure you that this is an incredible oversight that causes a monotonous pain in the arse.
Some of the larger groups here on deviantART often have one or more dedicated chat channels. More often than not, these chats have a dedicated rule post in the Group blog, instead of maintaining a massive topic bar in the channel. As a result, channel mods are often promoted to a moderator privclass in the group for maintenance and editing of the Chat Rules postings. Seems simple enough, right?
Unfortunately, sometimes group admins alter and split the mod privclasses in an attempt to streamline the way the group works. This has the unpleasant side effect of preventing people who have every right to be editing the blog posts, even ones they themselves made, from altering these postings, often necessitating a needless duplicate posting to be made.
It doesn't even have to be a massive restructuring of the group it seems. All that has to happen is the change of the privclass name. Do I get an edit button? Yes. Does it actually do anything? Nope! It will simply reload the posting, with ?edit at the end of the URL, with absolutely nothing else happening. Blog post appears as normal; no editing available.
You can always contact those who are in the higher up rank and suggest they need to be edited. Also, this shouldn't be the case. Group blogs have the option of "only the author can edit the entry" in their blogs. So, even if someone is not a mod, but is a member, can still edit the journal post. Have you clicked "Edit" and see what shows up?
I click edit on the post, and absolutely nothing happens. Like I said the blog post reloads with the similar deviations suddenly showing up on the top-right, and the post appears as it normally does. The edit prompt and all related details simply don't appear.
