Search for Commissions

I see that some others asked for similar functionality here [link] but since thread is closed want to add my vote.

At some point I will be looking to have some small projects drawn for me. I would love to be able to search commissions by status "open|closed" by rating from people who have hired this person ie "4.5 out of 5 based on 6 customers" by type of work ie "Services Offered: Character Design, background layouts, textures, comic book design etc"

You can no longer comment on this thread as it was closed due to no activity for a month.

Maybe in addition to the widget they can do something like what Google for their AdSense and create some custom tags that users can use in a Journal post (maybe with a simple button like is used to Bold), like so

or even easier allow a 'special' journal page - so DA could scan for the existence of a journal page with exactly the title 'My Commissions' and if found add it to the search list.

I don't think the commissions widget will help. A lot of people who offer commissions (myself included) will never use it because it takes a ridiculous 20% of whatever we make. (By comparison, Etsy only takes 3.5% and 20 cents, and they bring in more sales for people than DeviantArt.)

Isn't Etsy more for 'one off' stuff than to commission an artist for character design and the like? I haven't dug much into the site. Either way there are some great artists here at DA.

Yeah, Etsy's hardly the best place to go for character design! I was just providing a competitor's rates for facilitating general art transactions.

I couldn't agree more about the great artists.

I think if DA is going to have a good commission search, it should include the people who don't use the commission widget. Otherwise the search results won't show everyone offering commissions.
