Sound and Link Log Chat Suggestions...

I enjoy Deviant Art quite a lot.

Although I wish there would be a couple of additions to the chat room system.

- Sound notifications when someone speaks in chat. Kind of like facebook except you can turn it off or on.

- Link log, where all links that are submitted in a chat will be parked in a side tab. This way even when someone who just entered the chat will be able to see them.

If these features are in the chat system I would like to know how to access them.
I truly feel a sound notification system will be better for the purpose of a chat system.

Lastly the link log is just a added desire and if Deviant Art wants to they can make the feature a part of premium members.
Where only their links will go into the link log or some sort of rule.
Just because who wants to keep posting links over and over when they can just say hey guys check out the detailed links I put in chat today.

A link log? I've never heard of such a feature in IRC chat, but it sounds like a great feature for spamming random chatrooms with porn links and leaving. :dummy:

In the chat there's already a notification system. If you are tabbed specifically, it highlights the text for you and blinks the chatroom red. There are some Firefox and Chrome addons that you can download for some additional features.

Storing links like that would be a huge junk storage for the chat system with useless links being stashed away. Which is why I think it's unnecessary and there are other ways out there. If you want to specifically want certain links to be set so others can see them, contact the chatroom owner or moderators who can edit the chatroom to copy/paste your link to the topic of the chatroom (the header) where notices and links can be shown. Though it would mean it would be upto the owner/moderators' of the room's discretion whether they would like to add them.

Users can also have a bot in chatrooms if they are allowed (not on the official chatrooms) and you can set it so certain links are set for you if you wish. If it's your own room and you would like to keep a log, you can have a bot in your room to log everything.

You guys do bring up a good point about the link log I had the same thoughts. I am just hoping it can be made to somehow be designed so it isn't so exploitable.
If anything I guess it is still meaningless after finding a way like such.

IRC chats don't have that feature. At least haven't seen that anywhere else.
