I try to find new artists by refreshing the Deviant Art homepage. Unfortunately this means that every other refresh, I have to look at some sort of grotesque porn or fetish that violates the site rules of conduct. I would be more than happy to breeze by it, and live my life without burned retinas or crying at what horrors man hath wrought, but the good samaritan in me feels the need to prevent others from the same plague. So I report the violations as they come, but as far as I can tell, the only way to do this is to actually open the deviation up, and get an even larger, more disturbing look at it on my way to the Report Deviation link. That link is only a pop up, so I get to scroll pass the abomination once more on my way back.
Can there not be a way to, say, drag a violating deviation to a report folder, or something, just so I don't have to get a big eyeful of it? It's not that I'm so squeamish that I can't be objective for a moment, but there is just so much of it, that repeated viewing gets to be intolerable. I come to this site to see things that stimulate me in a proactive way, and the trash is ruining my experience.
I understand that there are too many submissions every second for the Deviant team to jump on everything, and so I don't mean this as a criticism of them in any way. And while this probably would not be a popular change among many artists, I think it would be a tolerable controlling mechanism if any submitted deviations tagged as mature had to be visually approved before being published.
would be abused, like there was so many abused feature on the site (for example the ripping off websites topic, removed after being abused so heavily by users)
Whoa! The Ronin Rescue Cat gave in after a gracious apology went unrecognized. But he's right. I'm tired of making art that's only going to mingle with porn ponies, porn emo furries, and dick pics. Goodbye DA!!!!!!! RRRRROOOAAARARRRARR!!!!!!!!!
Wow, my simple suggestion went down a weird path. Lesson learned. I will not interact with internet forums anymore. They always devolve into base arguments and one-upsmanship. Never mind DA, just leave the site as is. I think its great. No, really, I love every part of it.
From "How to recognize a narcissist: Never love anything that can't love you back": "Nearly everyone has some narcissistic traits. It's possible to be arrogant, selfish, conceited, or out of touch without being a narcissist. The practical test, so far as I know, is that with normal people, no matter how difficult, you can get some improvements, at least temporarily, by saying, essentially, "Please have a heart." This doesn't work with narcissists; in fact, it usually makes things worse."
I'm really fucking glad to be a narcissist if the alternative is "Please have a heart". Why should someone guilt people into sugarcoating their replies and not disagreeing at all?
Saying your idea is bad does not make anyone here a narcissist. You seem to be forgetting, internet forums are about discussion and opinion. The entire point of these forums is to bounce ideas, which includes digging at a suggestion until all the pros and cons are there. And sometimes, a suggestion just sucks, has been heard before or just won't happen.
That would just mean more false reports clogging up the already bogged down system. Honestly the only thing I report is copyright infringement. That actually is wrong. The other stuff, that's just you being a prude.
Ahem, no, no, no. Enabling mature content means I am perfectly fine seeing depictions of the human body. But I am not a prude for not wanting to see cartoon rape fantasies and ejaculate.
You miss my point, the rest is just censorship because you disagree with something. While violating intellectual property rights is the only violation that is actually wrong. Get it?
