I'm so sick of seeing half ass anime drawings. If you call that art, good for you I guess. But there should be a way to filter what you see. Its annoying.

hate to rain on your complaint parade, but DA accepts all walks of art pending they follow the rules. It even says when you sign up that everyone from amatuers to professionals are welcome. besides that, I don't see what disqualifies it as art, it's a form/style of drawing from Japan.

dA is a gigantic website for people of all ages, skill levels and artistic interests. You're going to see lots of stuff here that doesn't float your boat. If you don't like what you see while browsing the front page, you can simply choose to focus your attention on things you do like. Watch lots of people and groups who submit art that you love, browse specific categories (avoiding ones that don't appeal to you), use the More Like This feature to find work similar to what you've already enjoyed, look at the Favourites of people who have similar taste to you...and basically stop expecting an entire website to change to suit your personal taste!

I agree that the ability to filter out a particular category would be a nice option. After all if you're never going to look at one of those deviations anyway, it's just taking up space on your search page.
What I don't agree with is the attitude you brought to this suggestion. We all have our own tastes, likes and dislikes, our own opinions of what is and isn't art.
If the issue is with the quality of the work itself, well, maybe that artist just needs more practice. It would be more helpful to give them some constructive feedback, than tell them straight up that they suck and they're not an artist at all. Or say nothing. That works too.

The ability to filter out a specific category would be nice, obviously there's no way to filter for quality without people getting all offended and start preaching "quality of art is subjective"

I agree, it'd be great of DA could have some quality standards. The best you can do is set your front page to show you the 24 hour popular instead of newest.
