I often get frustrated when I go to the tattoos category to take a look at random designs for inspiration and what I get is about 90% tribal/celtic art. Nothing against it, of course, but it would be so nice to have subcategories. If that's too much, maybe just divide it into "tribal" and "non-tribal".
For those who want to appreciate different styles, it's annoying to get always the same thing for results.
This might help with your searches a little bit, although it does depend on people's keywords so won't be 100% effective in not returning results that you aren't interested in. FAQ #577:How do I use the Search? explains how you can exclude certain keywords from your search, enabling you to search for mermaids (for example) but avoiding tribal-style tattoos by using mermaid -tribal as your search terms.
Well, this certainly helps! I'll stick to that even though, like you said, it depends on people's keywords. I still believe 'Tattoos' should have subcategories, since it's such a broad field. But then again, thank you for this tip
