Hey, I recently got a new computer, with a lower resolution than my previous one, and I have issues adjusting to the different size of of the items on the site. So I often use the zoom feature on my browser, and it seems that for me, the optimal size of everything is 90% of the default. So I am suggesting that the site include an option for users to change the size of items on the site. I think that just doing it on a macro level would be good enough. If a user had a slider where he or she could change the general size of objects on dA, I think that that would satisfy my need.
That could be pretty nice. I remember logging in on a friend's laptop once with a really high resolution and everything was so tiny that I constantly had to zoom...
What do you mean by the server stress? It'd just be a couple more bits of data built into the webpage request. When the user logs in, it would save a cookie with all of his or her settings to their disk, and that would be used to formulate the page requests to the servers.
It's just that I remember the possibility of different DA interface with different style and colours. The result was the website unavailable several time a day due to this feature.
Actually, I don't think it would cause any server stress at all. It'd be entirely client-side. The server would send the standard size of image to the client, which would then scale it down to the proper size (or leave it untouched for 100% scale).
I like the idea. It's relatively simple and has an actual purpose.
I'm not too much of one either, but I'm pretty sure most of the work could be handled by the user (if my smidge of web design experience says anything).
Of course, knowing dA, touching the slider would cause an explosion.
I agree with that, however, this is a suggestions board. I find that I would like this to be an option, but if the grand majority of deviants wouldn't bother, and would be confused by such an option, that is up to the dA staff and CV's do decide.
Please comment if you like this idea.
