***Content Filters Please*** (Category Filter Preferences)

I think that we should have access to a way to sort what art we see and what we don't want to see. Whatever your reason for not wanting to view a particular genre of art on here, I feel that there should be a way to edit what you browse and search through. For me personally, it's the overwhelming presence of anime/manga/cosplay in the home or search areas. Please be productive, I am not coming down on anime, I would just rather filter it out of my experience on here (it's not my cup of tea).

I do not like the suggestions I have heard about searching like google and typing a <minus>something every time I want to remove things from my results. That would mean (in my case) that I would have to type "-anime -manga -cosplay" every time I search, and it would mean that I have no way to filter my home view. That seems like directing an awful lot of negative energy at something you'd like to avoid.

I PROPOSE that we have a filter put in place in our personal settings that allows you to browse through every category (using the same setup as the categories in "submit art") so that you can check an "on" or "off" button next to each individual category, and save your preferences about what you want to view.

I know that DA is a strong community with many varied opinions on everything, and I feel that this would go a long way to reinforcing the different art communities, as well as making each deviant's experience more enjoyable and productive.

Come on people back me up!

mmhmm, I mention it in the 2nd paragraph. I'm not looking to save specific searches, I'm looking to permanently filter things I don't want to see while directing minimum attention to those things every time I search.

Have you considered using things such as minus tags in conjunction with the Channels feature to save your search?
