Now, I do like occasionally going on dA's chatrooms.. but there is a big problem. When a message comes in... There's nothing telling you it did if you are on another window! I like to chat, and do other things at the same time! Now, I have a thought. I think dA should make their own chat client, of sorts. Something like an IM client, but dA exclusive, that is plugged in to the chat rooms you can get here on dA. SOmething you can sign into, and, like AIM, or MSN, it notifies you when you get a message. The settings of this can be changed. To only flash the window if your name is mentioned, for instance. It could either be ran in-browser, or even possibly its own download. I think it would be very useful for those of us who frequent the dA chatrooms.
Well I'm using firefox, so I remember downloading it from firefox, but I think the version I have is no longer compatible with the is version of firefox, and I haven't tried looking for another one since I stopped using chats.
But you can try searching for DA addons from mozilla.com, you might have some luck.
Ah I think I might do that. Thanks! It'll be useful if I decide to do another "Chat with my OC" session. I know it's silly, but it's so fun to get into character and chat with said character's fans. Sometimes I am signed in to two accounts (The character's account on another browser) so I can interact with the character, too... Which is fun and amusing on its own level.
Just get a Skype, AIM, or Yahoo account and talk with your friends there. deviantART is supposed to be an art site, and yes, it's one of the more "social networky" art sites, but it's still an art site primarily. We're lucky to have a chatroom page and if we had to load a chat program on every page like on Facebook, then that would hog the bandwidth and compete with picture-loading.
