Isn't the essence of dA the art?And if another user has blocked you,i understand you shouldn't be able to communicate with them,but you should still be able to like their art.

I don't agree with this. If someone blocks you on this site, they don't want you to be able to interact with them or their art anymore, and that includes faving. You can still look at it, and appreciate it without faving - but you can't communicate to them that you like their art anymore, which isn't something they want from you, anyway.

I've been blocked by someone I've never, ever spoken to before because I uploaded a brushpack I frequently use. So they qualified me as a thief because I didn't individually credit all 100+ something people/pages/etc (which I wouldn't remember anyway after so many years..).

I liked their art and wanted to favorite their stuff, but couldn't because apparently I was blocked, without me even knowing who they were.

On the other hand, this is very rare/unlikely..And there's some people I know I wouldn't want to favorite my stuff, so.. S:
I feel torn on this matter, I guess D:}

Some people are blocked for doing malicious things to the person's art. :s Not to mention it makes it clear you're still in their stuff after they've made it clear they don't want you to be.

You can like their art all you want. You just can't TELL them that with a favorite.

Not a good idea. If someone blocks you, they don't want any contact with you what so ever, even favs.
Some people block users specifically for the reason that they don't want that certain user faving their art and adding it to collections that the artist isn't comfortable with having their art featured in.
