why do we NEED the premioum membership?

there is one thing that I don't understand about us free members,why do our profiles say"needs premioum membership"?
seriously,who told you that we actually NEED it,huh? did you asked us?
I want to request this signature change,and people here will have the right to choose what the others will see.

It says that because in order to use the feature, you do need a Premium Membership. Without a Premium Membership, you cannot use the feature. Therefore, you need it. ;)

They are not implying that you actually NEED a Premium Membership to use the site / have friends / live / whatever.

The reason that is there is because you should feel left out of all the benefits.

I loved having premium when I did and I feel that every person who does get premium is helping deviantART grow and improve. So taunting you to get it is probably the best way to get more people to subscribe it.

That is the most insane thing I have ever read. Sorry but it is. Just because "they made the site" doesn't equate to people not having a right to voice their opinions and the OP is correct, nobody NEEDS a premium membership. the way it is written, it sounds like it is a requirement and it isn't. When DA first put this forth with saying "needs premium membership" thousands were up in arms about it and rightfully so.

DeviantART requires money to run the website, and their current and best way to get money is having people buy Premium Memberships. Therefore, when they say "Needs Premium Membership", it is only saying that the account lacks premium membership and in order to have access to all of DeviantART, 'needs' a Premium Membership.

I hope you understand. :)
