Printing services in Europe

I searched for stuff like this that had already been suggested and found one post from about a year and a half ago - and it had already been closed due to inactivity. So I thought I would post this, hopefully to get it a little more noticed.

I live in the UK, and I'm currently trying to sell prints of my photos. I decided to order one myself to see what the quality was like, etc, and found that the shipping cost was around £12 for a print that cost around £7. This will have a massive impact on the sales of my prints, as I assume most people wouldn't even consider paying that much for shipping.

It's a shame, but I don't have much choice but to search for a site similar to deviantART but based in the UK. It would be much better for me and of course deviantART if I could simply order from the UK or Europe based branch instead, as this would help me and the site itself to make more sales.

I doubt this will be seen by anyone who can actually do anything about it, and if I'm the only one that feels this way then there's no way they would consider this idea. So, I'd appreciate any support for this idea - reply and state your own opinions :D
Thanks

Yeah, that's a good point. Well I think it's worth them looking into something like opening a European office, but of course I understand it would only be worth doing if it's beneficial to them and their customers.

Quick tip; use the reply button underneath a poster's avatar next time. That way they'll get your message in their inbox and will know you replied to them ;)

I'm in Europe as well and your best bet is to try and find a good local printer. That way you can save on shipping costs.
I don't see dA opening up a European branch to be honest. Even though that might make European deviants more inclined to buy.

Well thank you ;) I still got messaged when the other two replied here, but sure.
And yeah like I said, I don't really have much choice but to use another printing service at the moment, but I thought I'd post this just as a long shot.

You get the message because you're the OP, but they aren't getting a message in their MC that you replied to them.

dA's only official office is in California, so in order to get prints in Europe, they would need to open a new location in the UK/Europe or find a company to partner with that will do the printing for them. I don't see a problem with that because of the convenience of faster shipping it would provide, but since it's more likely they would have to go with partnering, it will cost extra to pay for the printer's services. That extra cost plus shipping may be little or it may be almost as much as that shipping cost you spoke of, making little difference to the price. Hard to say without checking out what local printers can offer and what the shipping costs would be based on your location.

Lol, I can't really tell my customers to wait up to a year to order them so shipping is free. (Not that I've had any customers, but still.)
Anyway, thanks for letting me know about that :)

You can wait for free shipping sales that occur once every year. Everyone should do that actually. :la:
