Add a "release date stamp" to all pictures

:iconjubeldibub:
Hi,

I think it would be a great help, if below or above every picture (f.e. next to the name of the picture) a date stamp appear, so that watchers can find out very quickly, if the seen picture is a new release or not (it should displayed in the overview, at the thumbnails, not just in the main frame of the picture). I, and sincerely many other people, watch a whole bunch of artists here, and if we save their pictures for our private art gallery, it would be helpful to know how new a specific picture is - so you can better guess, if you already downloaded it or not.

So: If this is no that big of a deal for you, I would be glad, if you can add this information to the pictures.

Thanks!

Greetings
Jubeldibub

Are we talking about download? While it could be possible to change the download name to include the date it was submitted or the picture was taken. Now, when someone downloads the image, the image has a date associated with the file itself that is when the image was downloaded (this is hard to modify as the date is set when a user views the image, and not always exclusively the first time.)

As for date on the deviants themselves, they do contain a submitted and date that the picture taken tag (photos only) on the side.

No, it's not just the download name I got in mind. Although this would be not bad too ;) I talk about an additional information right next to every picture in the thumbnail view of a gallery. Even better it would be, if deviantart "remembers" your last visit of a specific artist, and if you revisit his gallery, every picture, which is new since your last visit, wil be marked with a "new" sign.
On the other hand: I don't know how much work/trouble the realization of that idea would cause.

Hi,

yeah, I know, but it's not very "easy-to-see", if you have to click on every picture, in order to check the release date. It would be easier for visitors, if the date is displayed next to the thumbnails of all pictures in the gallery of every artist. Perhaps it is possible to activate this additional info via the profile options, so you can choose it, if you want it.

Use the reply button. They can't see what you posted.

You can already read the date on the side of the image.

I think on the side, where the download button is, there should be a pop-up that comes up saying you've downloaded the image (from that computer) # of times. I see it as useful for people who use stock images and don't want to download the same image all over again.

Well the upload number can also tell you which image is newer. Obviously, the greater the number, the newer it is. The number is at the end of the address and it's also the number used in the thumbnail.

Example:
http://laemperatrizmariana.deviantart.com/art/Maypop-Passionflower-181646280 (2010)
http://laemperatrizmariana.deviantart.com/art/Pink-Yellow-Cluster-299154879 (2012)

True, but you can't see the URL unless you click on every single picture - if the release (or submit) date would be visible next to every picture in the thumbnail view (I mean the view on the whole gallery of an artist), you could check very fast, from what picture on you should take a closer look, cause it's new.

On the thumbnails, if you hover your mouse over it, you can see the date, but not which was submitted first.
