Why?
Let's look at this for a moment. Some people care about them, most people don't. Essentially it's spam and no different than any user-generated spam, with the exception it's dA itself sending it.
HOWEVER
That doesn't change the fact that it's still not wanted by a LOT of people. I get sick of having to constantly delete these as they NEVER have and NEVER will interest me.
What's wrong with putting "Hot Topic" crap in like say, a side bar on the front page or something? Why must you FORCE it on us? It's not going to make any of us get into whatever is being spammed at us. All it does is annoy a ton of people.
So what GOOD reason is there for not allowing us to disable these? There isn't one, so don't bother with that crap, just give us the option.
