Auto-promote a new founder due to inactive founder

I am a co-founder of a group, and my founder has been inactive for almost a year now.

I know that there is nothing to be done unless the founder gets back on, but by auto-promoting someone from the admin group who is active to a founder will help save a lot of dead groups.

There has been a huge concern regarding how some groups fail suddenly because the founder is gone (there is no way to contact them), and frustrations of reviving the group without an active founder.

Although my group is still growing, I need to have more power in the admin side to manage aspects of the group, and me being stuck in the co-founder ranking does not help me do that.

I don't know about auto-promote, but if they get a warning within reasonable time (log into the group within the next 7 days kind of thing) then I don't have a problem with it.

Though you could always just make your own group.

That could work as well, which can also by-pass the inactive accounts I guess...?

I could make my own group, but having put so much effort into it, I'm not sure if I want to (although I knew that I would have to sooner or later to keep the group alive)

I think after a year that is long enough for the health of the group for you to take over. If they come back you can talk about where to from here, but if they never come back you are stuck and thats not the way... send another message to the founder saying you are going to get full admin rights, not because you want to exclude them but because you want the group to thrive, and if they come back there is no issue with them continuing in the old role if they have continuity of presence.

Yeah, and the only way to do it is to either get the staff to do it for you (which I doubt) but it would be made easier if it uses the auto-promote system.

Hm, not sure about inactive founder. But if the founder deactivated, I think it's fair for the group get a new founder. :hmm:

Yeah, when it comes to inactive accounts, things get messy because there's always this question of "what if the founder comes back?"

Perhaps dA should do something with inactive accounts as well...

I think inactive account can be leave the way it is. No one can claim ownership over a used and owned account anyway. IMO.
