Vary the opening page!

I wanted to post this in 'Complaints" but I doubt anyone will give a ...there. Lately, every time I sign onto dA, [link] I get this photo at the very top: [link] followed by a drawing that is the same one every time and so on etc.

Ok, the pic is cute but after seeing it for a gazzilion time, it is annoying. It has a dd, over a million views and many faves. No wonder. It is put at the gate. Any pic put there day after day would get so many views.

Now, the question is, why dA helps popularize super popular deviations? There are lots of better pics on dA than the ones I mentioned stuffed in the face of us when we log in. Maybe the dA format is that most popular pic goes to the front but that is creating this monotony that is feeding itself.

Suggestion: Make the pics random or at least show the latest one posted on dA. Popular pics are already popular. They don't need to be the permanent billboards at the gate. TY.

As has been mentioned, you have the ability to change what you see in the sidebar on the left side of your screen. Make sure it's not on Popular > All Time.

Locked as this is easily changed for logged in users.

Because it's set to all time popular for you. Change it to something else.
This is what a browse page does. Shows the very best in an art site the first hand to make users join. Not some uhh...highly questionable content the first time around. It's a form of advertisement.
Change it to something so the next time you log in, you see something different. It works. Change the homepage to something else.

That kid who probably didn't have a choice in his hair style is an acceptable form of advertisement for dA? I find the pic highly questionable as art. Oh well...I don't care for the purpose of it, I am just sick of it.

Not that particular deviation. All the popular deviations. It's how most sites with such 'features' work. It's how dA says, look what awesome works are on this site. You don't see an advertisement of a brand promoting how expired one of their good was do you? Same with this. No matter how 'shuffled' it is.
Also, dA is aware users want an overall shuff in works, and what you are seeing is already a shuffled version and not the absolute all time popular work they are showing. What good is it to show an all time popular if it's not showing the actual one? But yes, dA is aware that users want another page with a different browse feature and most likely on the way.
Again, change your browse settings to New or 8 hours popular. That way, you will see change. I and many others have it set to a different one and unless that mode is selected, it shows us different results.
What you are sick or not isn't a concern here for us for this suggestion. People get sick with a lot of things.

Getting typecast with the same picture that says 'cute' over and over and over again isn't going to make people sign up. No I don't see an advertisement of a brand promoting how expired one of their good was except here on dA showing an old and well expired has been cute picture as the front line art promo.

Ok, How dA advertises or attracts members is of no concern to me. There are a lot of corporate annoyance around that I can not do a thing about. If that pic comes up again, it is going to be up to me to find a way to not barf.

If your homepage is set to "Popular", then no shit you're going to see the same image

My home page is set to my profile. It does open to my profile most of the time, I admit but if it doesn't, it opens to that page.

First, if it's set to your profile, how does it only open to that most of the time? It can't just spontaneously decide to take you somewhere else, unless you either don't have it set how you think, or you really don't understand what you're doing.

That aside, there already is a way for it to show the latest posted. Right on the left side is the option to select newest.
I never go on the homepage, but mine is still set to newest, which is exactly what you asked for, it already exists.

It opens to my page most of the time. Thank goodness. I must have done something right to have that happen.

When for some bizzar reason beyond my ability and obviously yours, it decides to not open to my page, it defaults to that stupid picture. This has been happening more and more, therefore the 'most of the time' comment.

Once that happens, it is too late. I have seen the stupid picture already and offering the option to select newest is of no use to me since I can click on my name and go to my page.

It should stay on newest if you select newest.
I'm thinking you're explaining something wrong here.
