Read list

I read a lot of stories here on dA and I'm member of a few groups and a lot of writers who submit stories. The problem is that I can't always read them directly after they submitted them. There are already 60 stories I still like to read, but I don't want my "new deviations" page to fill up anymore.

You could put them in a folder, but that way you can't add any stories to the folder that aren't on the "new deviations" page

You don't know if you like the story yet, so faving them is a bit too early.
Wouldn't it be better if there was a button to put the stories in a read list, without faving them?

A collection will work just fine for that, name it "Read Later" then you're all set.

Collection as in favouriting them or creating a folder in the message center? As I said, that doesn't cover the whole problem.

You can create a folder in your Message Centre and just drag/drop the deviations into that folder for later use. It doesn't give a fave like faving does, and no one will ever know that you've dropped their work in this folder. But it will remove it from your Message Centre messages count.

But as I said, you can't put random deviations in that folder, only the ones that are already in your message centre.

Well, then faves or a bookmark would make the most sense. Having another list on dA in addition to that would seem kinda pointless to me.

There are 3 possible ways now:
- Folder (you can't put random deviations in that folder, only the ones that are already in your message centre)
- Bookmark (doesn't work when working on an other pc)
- Favourite (You don't know if it's really a favourite yet)

see my point?
Pocket was the best solution given until now (but it's 3rd party software).

I think that even though both solutions might not be optimal, they work well enough for DA not to really have to create another option for your problem.
I wonder how many others are having the same 'problem' anyway?

They won't do anything if I nobody complains about it...

There's a degree of truth to that.
And I also suppose that the best way to find out if your experience, your problem, is a shared one and one that deserves DA's attention, is to go public about it.
Yet, my opinion, that I suppose is also valuable to get a realistic representation about if your problem is really worthy of DA's attention, is that the problem is too irrelevant, too minor, too much of a luxury problem and that DA's attention would be better spend on other things.

(When I say DA's, I mean the staff of deviantART.)
