HIGHLY Common Requests Continually Denied and Why All of it Is Wrong

Here I am now in a situation where I wan to embed a short video that is HIGHLY pertinent AND necessary. Can't do it, every time it's brought up, it is vehemently shut down. The following list contains the reason and why it's crap:

Even now, to make this post easier to follow I need to make a definition list. Can I? NO, because they're blocked here but not on deviation submissions, SO DON'T TELL ME YOU CAN'T WHEN I KNOW BETTER!

<dl>
<dt>Why can't we embed the YouTube/music players?</dt>
<dt>"Lots of people want it, but most people don't want to hear other peoples' music."</dt>
<dd>Regardless of the system this site is built on, ALL of them contain the ability to permanently block all "autoplay" and "visibility/display: none" functions, thus ending that crap argument. It's also not a hard implementation, I've seen it come up over-night before and would be coded almost exactly the same as the current blocks, only they just block THOSE parts and not the whole thing. You can even limit the maximum sizes, unless you built your site using tables instead of divs due to being stuck in 1995. Problem solved. Even with tables you can do it, I have made custom layouts for VF cults specifically to block/force lower the size of over-sized YouTube videos or long posts, and I'm an AMATEUR! Forever and a day now (and I know not WHY nobody has caught up), conventions changed to DIVS with RELATIVE layouts which makes them pefect on any monitor/resolution WIHTOUT extra coding and the ability for the site to resize evenly for adjusting window-size... or instantly destroying the ability for people to be dicks.</dd>
<dt>Why can't we change font colour/size/whatever?</dt>
<dt>"zOMG, because I don't want to to read 900px bright yellow text on white backgrounds.</dt>
<dd>Again, this is stupid-easy to block. You know how to get around work arounds? Create a safe list of colours that would be acceptable: red, blue, green, etc." and any other colour entered would be ignored, basically EXACTLY THE WAY YOU HAVE FILTERS NOW! You wouldn't need to make any true changes, if it's script, maybe 10 short lines of code, just add in an "except_if" clause. (again, amateur here with programming and web building)</dd>
</dl>

Even now, I need to simply change the text colour a poem I am submitting and it is VERY VERY VERY important and must NEVER be shown without that one text colour (to dark red).

I am sure there are TONS of others but I can't be arsed right now as I have to go through all the REALLY OLD DEPRICATED HTML 0.5 BETA and figure out how my, and basically ALL other browsers of today are going to rend this poem that I am trying to stylise with this archaic coding that many websites and devices actually are beginning to totally drop all support for because HTML5 has been around for like 100 billion years.

Just saying.

Wait, I thought we could embed Youtube videos on our journals. I mean, I did back in January ([link]); did they take that feature back out or something? o_o

Have you considered getting your own website?

If you NEED colours to complete your poem, then you're not a very good poet.

They could also just upload the poem as an image, that way they can customise it any way they want. So they're also unimaginative to boot.

Care to share your opinion on any of those poems?
Never hurts to shamelessly self-advertise right :lol:

Well, poetry really isn't my forté, but I will say that I would like to see them easier to read. You could darken or lighten the area behind the text to emphasize it. If the poems are supposed to be the focal point, then the images are perhaps a bit overbearing. I'd make the poems bigger and bolder, making better use of the space.

Thing is, I didn't feel like errr creating too much chaos on the picture, so I posted the poems underneath for those who might have trouble reading them :shrug: - I guess it depends from person to person though.

But thank you for the advice, I'll keep it in mind next time :).
