Why? Because I sometimes try to look up some old forum post I did for reference but I cant find it, or the only way to track it is to make a self note of the link to the forum post and remember it, also is bugging sometimes to have a lot of tabs open to work through it.
I am just suggesting FB and E-mail as a common way to keep you updated, an "in-house" system would work rather well too since they did that for notes, but it just makes it more multitasking altogether in my opinion.
For me is not hard to keep up with notes and stuff because of an app help from DA for Google Chrome and Mozilla called "deviantAnywhere".
Phpbb3 forums have what you suggest. To subscribe to threads/ replies / updates on forum topics and posts. dA had made their own forum system, so they could do something like that as well. The in-house system would also have notification system via email (optional) if the person wishes to enable it. phpbb3 or other similar forums have that capability as well.
In other words what has been implemented? Where did I say something was implemented
I just said what you are suggesting is something phpbb3 and other similar forums have those features, subscribing to threads/replies to receive those messages when they are in the forum and receive them as a notification by email. The current dA forum you are seeing is their own in-house forum system and not some third party one. And so I suggested rather than doing it through facebook, they develop their own in-house system for subscribing to threads (which has been suggested before and dA is aware of that) so users can follow threads/use it as bookmark/ and as an option, have an email option for that. dA wouldn't ever use phpbb3 forums, but might as well use some of it's functions. So there is no implementation of it that has been done and therefore no way to activate it.
Or you know, deviantArt could do the same thing that any other forum does and JUST HAVE A FULL HISTORY. I mean they keep banned accounts around for 'historic' reasons, why not keep better history elsewhere?
