Viewing History?

Hey, I don't know if this has been mentioned already but,

do you ever have those days where you see a deviation you really liked, but you forgot to favorite it?

WELL

I think it would be a neat idea, under the "Favorites" tab to have a folder JUST for images you have viewed! There for, you can go back and fave without any problem!

Youtube sorta has that where its a folder just for videos you have viewed, and it helps a lot when trying to find something and you can't remember what it was called or who it was by.

The View History Folder should only be for the owner of the account to see (maybe optional I'm not sure).

So just to sum up:

Each time you view an image, it will directly be added to the "View History" folder so if you cant remember the artist or the name, you just go through your viewed history right on dA!

What do you think?

You could use your browser history, but to be honest, I often use InPrivate browsing and such, that doesn't save a history. So this would be quite a handy feature.

I agree with some of the comments below that you could use the browser history but I also see your point that seeing everything in thumbnails would be much more efficient. Plus you could also look for something you viewed while being on another computer since the browser history would be pretty much useless then.
So yeah, this might be nice to have. :)

exactly! Yes I get the point of the browser history but at the same time, having it right on dA would be much more beneficial to the users! I mean if it really was redundant, then why is a popular website like youtube have it?

It would be interesting but as others have said, you can use browser history. Browsers are now very updated (even from several past versions) that you can search your history to have only certain ones shown. So a search of "deviantart" in your browser history would show all the history related to deviantart. A search of 'deviantart.com/art' or 'deviantart art' will be able to the art related ones.
Would be a nice feature but given it is already done from browser end, it would be redundant as adding a spelling/grammatical error module on dA's end.

right, but as I said (if you read the actual reply) the Viewing History would be easier because it would be in thumbnails. Have you tried actually trying to find an image that you saw two weeks ago? Yeah its hard to find, seeing an actual thumbnail is just easier. Now I don't have this problem on a daily basis, I fave whenever I get the chance, it would just be easier for the browsing section of dA. And as for the spelling/grammar, there's Word for that XD that's already helping the writer, but this is for dA for browsing. Finding easier ways to get to the deviation you may have saw, or wanted to fave, there are several scenarios as to why you may not have faved it, that's why it would be so useful. I don't think it would be redundant really, I think it's a great way to find artwork (this site is used by lots and lots of artists) and it would benefit both the artist and the viewer.

I suppose. Again, I am on a middle here for this. :giggle: If they overlook the fact that it's redundant and do it, sure. If not, it's understandable. Though, if it's something that's personal and rather optional that users can turn it off would be nice if they do this.
Yes, I have tried to find an image that I saw two weeks ago. No, it wasn't hard. Mainly because I browse enough that:
1. one way or other, I would see it again,
2. I have patience
3. I use bookmarking feature for works that I would like to go visit again,
4. and/or use favourites and notes system.
5. +channels
6. History settings in browsers

Of course there's Word for spelling/grammar (or Open Office), but many have wanted this feature here. :giggle:
