So you want about 10,000 RSS updates/Emails/Notes every single day on top of whatever RSS feeds, Emails, or devWatch updates you constantly get? Why do you need to only see things that have a certain amount of popularity?
let's say i am interested to watch and eventually favourite the better pictures. so i would let's say choose photography/macro and set 10.000 wievs min to get RSS/mail/PM notification of this jewel.
now this is not 10.000 notifications per day into your IE/Outlook/DA.
i am not amused to constantly scroll/click through seamlesly millions of average pictures to get to ones i like. if you are in search of something you use then a search field.
If you want to follow a specific category you certainly can. You can create custom Channels on the +channels page that are set to specific categories you like and with search terms or popular/newest so you can narrow down the results a bit. But I believe that variety will only help you appreciate the good stuff even more.
In business terms, that's called "friction", and friction is what makes those better pieces of art stand out. If all you have are popular pieces that are all alike, then they're no longer special. They become the new "average" for you.
i got an idea:
auto rss/email/pm messaging of popular pictures from selected category when one of them got more than <entered> number of wievs.
