From time to time, we may encounter a subject in someone's journal or even a specific deviation that we would like to follow. The same concept exists in FB: once you've put your comment somewhere, you have a kind of subscription that is automatic. The concept, here, would be the almost the same, but manual: a "Watch" button.
Yes, you're right: watching someone isn't dramatic, but watching a specific journal entry may be extremely dangerous, ok. I've said it at least 10 times today: no one forces you to watch anything, that means no drama, no stories, no complications, absolutely nothing wrong for anybody, just another tool to communicate that remain free.
Faving a journal entry is not the same: you are not aware of all discussions The "Watch" mecanism is already integrated to DA, so that we could have the same, optional tool to watch some journal entries that are animated during one-two days after that it ends.
I have been many times in this situation: a journal entry raise an interesting discussion, not the single I say - he responds - I respond - he responds that finishes in a totally unreadable, completely unbalance kind of tree, in which things are getting worse if one or two others enter in the discussion. Forum? why not but, a journal entry may become something that is not far from a forum's thread, the difference being in the fact that it was not a purpose, but a consequence.
That way, if we know each time someone has wrote his (her) thoughts we can respond in the thread, instead of on a second page far away from the rest of the journal entry if your response is tenth, or the eleventh in the cascade That way a simple journal entry may become a place where we can exchange opinions in a more readable manner, a kind of forum thread...
Ahh. Yeah, that'd be nice. But I think the problem is just the commenting system--like even forum threads, what you really get is a ton of individual discussions with the author, not the entire group joining in on one big discussion. Case in point, this.
As other have said, the outcome would be painfully intrusive. Though, that is, to be honest, what most groups are for. To group together deviations that people actually would enjoy to see without having to submit content that is not their own.
From the first minute I wrote this wish, it's as if absolutely none wants a single coma to be changed I repeat: what kind of intrusion are you all speaking of?? No one has to click on the button "I want to follow this journal thread" No one, no one, no one. It's a personal choice, so that intrusion is not an excuse. The one who does not want a single intrusion has one thing to do: to get out of every group.

I repeat: we are in democracy and no one forces anyone to follow a journal entry's responses, but it should be possible to do so from time to time, and I'd like to skip the solution in which my browse has 5 to 10 more tabs, I've enough with the 10 I already have, 2 being devoted at full time to DA
