Username History

I think the new username change feature is great and I would have loved to have it a few years ago when I switched accounts, however, with this new feature comes a new issue: remembering who's who! Before this new feature was released, you always knew who someone was by their UN even if they changed their avatar. Now if someone changes their UN or both their UN and Avatar without you knowing or remembering, it can get very confusing trying to figure out whom you're interacting with or are looking for!

I suggest that DA add a Username History somewhere on the users profiles, perhaps under the about me menu. This way if you can't remember who someone is, you can check their past usernames to find the name you recognize. I see this feature available on other forums I participate in and I think it would be really nice to have on dA.

Thanks!

it says 'formerly xxx' beside usernames of people who changed their name on the profile pages, I think. I suppose if they changed it again after that, it might become an issue?

I just noticed this. An interesting thing about it is that it does not show up for someone who only changed the capitalization in their UN. Go figure.

And yes, if it goes away after a time or they change it again it would still be handy to have a full history available somewhere.

yeah a full history would be good I suppose, especially since usernames are part of the address of your page, would your first old username still direct someone to your page if you're currently on your third or higher name.
