Hey guys/gals,

Couple of things to consider while submitting your Harassment Reports to the helpdesk that will greatly increase the time in which they are taken care of and greatly reduce the time it takes for us to take the appropriate action against the parties involved.

1. Provide links to the harassing comments and/or deviations.

Simply sending a note stating "BuddyDeviant is saying mean things about me. Please ban him!" is not sufficient. This results in us playing comment tag which slows down the entire process which could have been resolved right from the very first report.

2. Give us a little background on the situation, if possible.

Sometimes we get reports of harassment that extend beyond DeviantART. While we don't have the power to take action outside of DA, it's important to give us some background information in these cases so that we're well aware of the situation and fully understand it.

3. Do not take things into your own hands.

Often times, we get requests in reporting other deviants for harassment however in reality, both parties have violated our policies. When someone comments on your artwork and says "This is a piece of ****. I hope you die a long and slow painful death you ugly son of a *****.", do not reply back saying "Well, **** you, you ***hole. Linkin Park RULEZZ!" because essentially you are committing the exact same infringements as they are. Your best bet is to bite your tongue, report the offending comments and it will get taken care of. There is no need to influence their behaviour.

4. It's ok to forward notes.

Notes are part of this site, just like comments and deviations. Simply because notes are not out in the open, does not mean that they are exempt from policy. Feel free to attach these to your reports if needed.

5. Do not tell all your friends to report the harassment.

There is no need to spam the helpdesk for multiple requests for the same issue. One report of the same harassment is enough for us to take care of the situation(granted it follows these guidelines).

That's about it. If any of you have any questions about harassment policies here on the site, then take a quick read-over of our etiquette policy here: [link] and if you're still confused, then send me a note and i'll get back to you on it ASAP.

Thanks.
