I just joined. Just wanted to know how most of you all upload your drawings and paintings.

-Do you scan?
-Take a photo of it?
-What is the best way to conserve original color and clarity?

Thanks so much :w00t: <-- the only emoticon i know at this point haha
This thread means that I'm putting some stuff up pretty soon!

I think it depends on the medium.

I am a photographer, mostly in film, so I scan directly from negatives.

I tend to use a scanner, but that's because I've so far only been working in black and white. If it were colour, I'd probably still use a scanner, but it'd want to be really good resolution...

I use a camera instead of a scanner when it comes to digitising my works. There are no size restrictions, you have more control on the lighting and its faster. Though, a tripod and a camera of good enough quality is recommended. And the best format to save image files at the moment is .PNG. You can try .JPGs as well but only if the original image isn't already a .JPG and the compression isn't below 85%.

Scanning is the way to go, pictures from cameras look sort of sloppy.
Also, try to keep your submissions in PNG format, as it's the lossless image filetype. It'll stay true to your image.
