It seems to me that most people on dA think that only specially certified people suggest daily deviations, or they don't know how to go about it, or they think it's too much work, or some combination of the three.
In fact, it's as easy as 001 010 011! Er... 1 2 3. I suggest a piece whenever I find one that I think is worthy off DDness, which is once or twice a week. So far, two of them have been DDs (yay!)
Step 001: Find an Awesome Deviation
Gallery directors' preferences vary somewhat, but most of them have these rules:
The deviation should not be your own.
The deviation shouldn't have a ton of s (this rule varies, but under 25 is usually safe)
The deviant shouldn't already have more than one other DD under their belt.
Step 010: Find the Appropriate Gallery Director(s)
Notice that for some galleries, there are multiple directors (and privileged staff members). Sending the same note to all of them greatly increases your odds of someone liking the piece and awarding it a DD. If you want, check out their journals for their preferences on DD suggestions.
Step 011: Note the Appropriate Gallery Director(s)
Again, preferences vary with the individual, but these rules should work fine with anyone:
Make sure to put “DD Suggestion” in the subject line. If you want, you can also put the sub-gallery or specific genre in parenthesis.
Make sure to put the title of the piece and the deviant in the body of the message. [link] isn’t a very interesting message.
Putting a short critique of the piece or just saying why you like it (briefly) will increase the likelihood of your note being read.
Once you write the message, just copy and paste so you can easily send it to the other appropriate staff members, if any.
Step 100: Find Another Awesome Deviation, and Repeat
And that’s it! It’s a great way to support your fellow artists, and it really doesn’t take that much time or effort. Get to it!
Like I said, a lot of people don't suggest stuff because they never bothered to figure out how. Clearly you didn't need an FAQ; this is for people that do.
If you believe that a certain type of artwork is being overlooked or under-represented please feel free to offer suggestions by noting or emailing the appropriate staff member listed below:
There's not much more to it, I'm afraid. Personally, I don't think people should be suggesting DDs without knowing how to use the FAQ, but that's just me being ornery.
DeviantART and the martial arts action film, Ninja Assassin, have teamed up to allow ALL deviants the ability to install Journal Skins! Select an awesome Ninja Assassin skin or choose the skin of your choice.
In this article I'll talk about establishing a process of working on art that will help you turn out much better work without as much struggling or confusion.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
