WARNING: This journal entry is by no means the thoughts of anyone else other than rgNet, and alot of you will be highly offended by the content in it, so i warn you, go ahead, read it, flame me, insult me, i dont give one damn.
But before you read this, remember, I love being on deviantART but I just hate what it's become.
Some of you might be stating 'I'm a deviant! and proud of it!' but what are deviants, and are any of you even aware of the connotations that brings up in people these days?
deviantART once was a good place, back in the early years (year more like it though) of its existance, where it was actually only known by people who had talent, and didnt submit pure bullcrap to the site because they had an internet connection and a cheap wacom tablet or camera their parents bought them for christmas.
Not to say that all of the work here is crap, but I must say the majority of it is.
I'll tell you what I find on this site at any given time when I surf it.
Tell me, whats the most popular work on this site? FEMALE EROTIC NUDITY. Oh we all know why, the majority of people on this site must be perverts! No, dont tell me, your looking at it coz its art? Or, you accidentally gave it a favorite and submitted it to be a Daily Deviation, yeh, likely story.
Why is it that Male Nudity is rarely seen, and never given credit, when female nudity is always (and in gratuous form) seen given 500+ favorites and in the Daily Deviation module? Perhaps you'll say 'Public Demand.' But does that mean if the public wanted to see gratuously violent and sexual images on the DD, they'd put it there? I think not. Though I've seen things which could be considered that bad.
The website could do with alot more administrative work, but I doubt thats going to happen anytime soon. Because the problem with deviantART is this, as i was told once.
The problem is its a community where anything can be uploaded. The sites purpose is the sites problem. What makes it good, makes it bad.
People outside dA consider this place to be a place for Crap Artists to submit Crap Art, and thus people decide they can submit crap art, propetuating the problem further.
And for that I must say i am utterly SICK and TIRED of seeing it.
People should start actually taking some pride in what they submit.
I will not submit work unless i consider it finished and well done. Regardless what you people think of my work, i'll only submit it if im happy with it and find it to have some form of artistic merit.
This isnt the last you'll hear from me on this issue. But for now, im not going to say much as its 5:30 in the morning, and im tired.
