We have a new end of the world date X_X

So today an Asteroid called DA14 is passing close to the earth. Isn't it funny that the name is dA? :omg:

Anyways... It is coming back :fear:

Scientist think it will hit the earth on 2080.

I guess we have plenty of time to figure out how to destroy it :stab:

Anyways, what do you think? will you be alive in 2080? do you plan to dedicate your life to save the life of your future grandchildren by looking into destroying this asteroid?

Here is the wikipedia link about it: [link]

The article says nothing about 2080. The date of the next approach is 53 years after that- in 2133. Even then, the risk is not high, though it will be close.

But you know they always lie to us :ninja:

Who, the scientists or Wikipedia?
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Both, there is no way to know what is real and what isn't :ohnoes:

If I am still alive when it gets here (very, very doubtful) I think it wouldn't really bother me because I probably won't even know who I am anymore.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Do you know who you are right now? :eyes:

Of course I do, I'm....ummmm.....damn!

I'm 20 now, if I'm alive by the time it gets here I won't really care what happens. =p

I'll be dead by then and there won't be any children, grandchildren or other things ending with children left behind me - so it's not like I would care about it.

Though if it would actually be the "end of the world" would that be that bad? I mean - if everyone would die then there would be no one left to complain about it, right?
UnknownSingularity's avatar
Why won't you have children? not even by accident? :ohnoes:

Does your husband want them?
SimplyLemie's avatar
No children and soon enough there won't be any chances for accidents... =D

Nope, neither of us would ever want kids. We could have so much more fun on our own... though we plan to get at least one more cat! But... they still won't live to see 2080.

Cats live only like 20 years :meow:

:o Huh? The news never told me about the date. =P I hope the asteroid would think twice before it hit a wonderful planet.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
But they cannot think :ohnoes:

Eh, we'll just crash a rocket into it. Knock it off course, break it to harmless pieces, something like that. We have the technology.
UnknownSingularity's avatar
but do the people with the technology care?
RoguishBard's avatar
There lies the issue.
