Dream Homes

Describe what you've always pictured as your perfect home.

Where would it be?
What kind of home would you have (mansion, ranch house, Victorian, etc)?
What furniture would you want for it?
Is it a 1 person home or a family home?

A castle. In Columbia, BC or Oregon. With a skittle dispenser and ice cream maker. And a pool.
Oh, and, y'know, a bed.

At least a zombie apocalypse has credible scientific possibility.

Not if the remains are genuinely deceased and devoid of the need for, say, oxygen, because it means there are no metabolic processes occurring which means no energy which means no movement.

Still... I could turn mummies into Ptolemaic cyborgs...

I would like to live on a ranch in Colorado. I always liked backwoods cabin style attire so my furniture will probably be something like that. I would also like to have barn for a horse :D

I like dry heat. Morocco though is more of a Mediterranean type climate like California. It's in the same general location as California cept off of Africa rather than North America.

A small and strangely decorated earthship (look it up ;) it's a kind of 'green housing' ) about an hour from a small city outside of a town, but still capable of high speed internet. I'd want to decorate the interior like a home out of Harry Potter because I've always been a fan of the magical bric-a-brac look.

It would probably be a family sized home, but filled with friends / housemates.

Hmm...

1. Someplace NOT in a city. Can't breathe with all the smoke and sewer drains...
2. A place with plenty of trees
3. A smattering of neighbors here and there, but not all close and tight like the 'burbs
4. Suitably Spartan: not overly decorative to the point that it's impossible to live in (As Frank Lloyd Wright said, "Form must follow function")
5. Interior Design with nature in mind (a little basket of pinecones on the coffee table and such...)
6. Enough space for visitors with quarters designed for occasional solitude
7. An easy flow from room to room (So I'm not hindered too much by doors. The family house has few inner doors save for those leading to bedrooms and restrooms)

Given those thoughts in mind, it looks like my ideal home would be just outside a forest with a sort of woodsy decor. Fit for solitude but open for familial options.
...And maybe a waterfall wouldn't hurt. I do so love waterfalls. ^_^ I like my privacy but I just can't stand the thought of living completely alone.

Though if I was thinking more fantastical, something akin to this would be a godsend.

I designed a huge art museum with a Gothic-Victorian flare, rose and thorn vine motifs, stained glass windows, a pipe organ and a pool table... wouldn't mind living in that.

I think the idea that a 'home' must be some kind cookie-cutter house is too narrow minded and have never wanted that.
Honestly I have always dreamed of living on the top floor or almost top floor in a huge concrete apartment building, in the middle of the city among other tall buildings. Or an apartment tower with balconies- a place like this [link]
I have always been obsessed with apartment buildings since I was a little kid. To be in a small flat with just one bedroom, and a sitting room that has a really big picture window or dutchdoors opening to the balcony- facing west so I can watch the sunset. With shiny floors and modern furniture like orange Eames chairs and a black glossy couch like they put in waiting rooms. I don't want to have to own a car either. I'd rather ride a streetcar or subway and arrive home via an elevator to my 20th floor hallway :D
Sadly I have to live in a city that has none of these accomodations available. The condo I almost bought was a top floor- but only six storeys up. Not high enough!

I want a resort/bar and grill on this lake: [link]

Around 10 rental cabins open year round. 2 stories, with a fireplace and 3 bedroom 2 baths. During the summer I have guided fishing trips onto the local lakes, the fall I have guided hunting trips and in the winter a haven for snowmobiling and ice fishing. After that I want 500 acres of forest land for guided hunting trips and hiking(open during separate time of course)

I have everything from Bikes, boat, and canoe rentals. And offer a service to clean and cook your daily catch for lunch and dinner. My bar&grill is the cream of the crop, with me running it. Over 100 beers and 25 of them local brews. Friday night fish fries, prime rib Sundays, ect...

I want a huge outside patio and a large dock to not only tie up the rental boats but for vacationers to motor up and tie up from there cottages on the lake.

If and when I win the Lottery, this is my dream. (Of course if anyone mentions they are on dA, their first drink is on the house.)
