Advertising yourself

I wanted to make a post to ask for peoples opinions on advertising yourself in groups...
I see lots of people who will post their own videos or links in a groups journal, and i don't know whether its a good thing or not!

I am an admin for a group, but I'm not really considering doing this, because, well, i don't feel the need to!

but i wanted to know what people think!
Do you like people who do it? And will often follow the links!
Are you an admin, and do this? If so, why?
Is this something that really annoys you about some groups?

ooh, i said in another comment...
As in... when someone is an admin to a group aimed at, say, pirates! And creates journals advertising some of their ninja manga art on it or something... X)
i'm not sure!

Ooh, fair enough! I mean, i know that its not common, and there are only like, two or three groups that i follow that do it! X) i was just wondering what people thought about it! :)
